Posted - Oct 09 2015 : 3:16:06 PM Hello all, I am a brand new member from N. California. I read somewhere in the last couple of months about an organic additive to standing water, including outside water for livestock that would kill mosquito larva without harming the animals or plants. As you may know, west nile virus is very bad in N. Calif. and I want to protect my home. I thought I saved the product on bookmarks, but now can't find it. Does anyone else know about this? If so, I would love to have the product name and how I can obtain it. Thanks!' |

Posted - Oct 09 2015 : 3:26:50 PM Hi Terry, Welcome!! I hope to hear all about your farmgirl interests. I have used Mosquito Dunks that I purchased from a home improvement store. It contains BT. We put it in our pond and our neighbors to kill the larva. I believe it comes in a pkg. of 4-6 discs. I would read the directions to make sure it is safe for livestock tanks though, not sure about that one. Here in Louisiana, we have lots of Cajun mosquitos and they have a mean BITE!! The mosquito dunks haven't bothered the heron, ducks and other wild life that visit our pond. Hope this helps!
