Posted - Nov 27 2006 : 7:43:03 PM Im the culprit who started Cindy Lee's obsession with MJF-we're always enabling each other with something. Last week, it was hitting the antique mall instead of working; usually it's the thrift shops. My passions and collections are varied and numerous. I'm trying to clean out what my spouse calls ''the room'' to get to the new sewing machine in the closet. I've vowed to clean out the room before setting it up and it's been a challenge. I have enough fabric, quilting magazines and books, old buttons, old lace, crochet and embroidery, patterns, etc to start my own shop and hope to eventually do heirloom sewing. Also have visions of a silk log cabin quilt and have enough silk for more than a few. I'll have to live to 100 to use it all!! Glad to be part of this group and have enjoyed the web site as well as the magazines. Back issues and MaryJane's book are hiding with the sewing machine, for reading hopefully soon. Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone and right about now...warm is very welcome...brrr. My heirloom sewing goal is christening dresses..and would also love to sew and donate burial gowns for babies who don't survive. Have about a dozen antique/vintage gowns now for inspiration. Both Cindy Lee and I have free lessons to take on our new sewing machines and the heirloom class is what interests both of us. That will happen right after the first of the year, when we don't have so many hours of work each week. Until then, I will be getting ''the room'' in shape and ready for some serious sewing. Organized..hahaha...it's anything but right now. I know there are two desks in there and a dresser full of sewing stuff and two bookcases full of cookbooks and quilting books. And lots more...it's the lots more that is the problem!! Everyone keep warm, if this week is any indication, it will be a cold winter; at least in NO Nevada. |
