Hello, my name is Marilyn Godfrey. I just joined the site. I first read Mary Jane's magazine in 2008, while directing a large daycare. I cried as I read, because I have almost always been a country girl, but working 14 hour days did not allow time for farm fun. Now at the young age of 71, after teaching and working with children for fifty years, I am ready to enjoy our farm once more. I love to cook, sew, work in the yard & garden and I have about fifty beautiful chickens and roos. I have an Etsy shop and love Pinterest. I also love God and my family.I am excited to read about all the neat things you are doing. www.etsy.com/shop/anniemayme

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Kathleen (my mother's name, also), I have been wanting goats, to eat my weeds and briars.
Catherine, my daughter in law and younger granddaughter spent six weeks in Houston last summer. Hadlee, 13 at the time, was there for proton radiation treatments. She was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma brain tumor in April, and spent ten hours on the operating room table April 17, 2014. The radiation is doing its job, getting rid of more of the tumor, but she is a bit forgetful. I tease her that we both have chemo brain now.Mary Jane, I am glad I finally joined the group. I admire all of you and the things you write about. Have a wonderful time at Jubilee.

Hello Marilyn,

I know how you feel about yearning to enjoy the farm life you desire. My husband and I own a farm and try very hard to build it up into something, but we both work full time. Someday, the farm will be our full time though! Glad you're here :)

Welcome Marilyn!! So glad you're here.

I've heard of Stephenville but am not sure where it is. Gosh, Texas is so big that you and I live in the same state but could be 10 hours away from each other! I'll have to look it up.

Hi Marilyn and Welcome! It is so great that you finally get to enjoy your farm. We started my "farm" just a couple of years ago on 1/2 acre after I retired. This week I finally get goats! Enjoy your new farm life, you deserve it.

Thank you for your warm greetings. We have 3 & 1/2 acres in the corner of our son's 70 acres. He raises horses and trains some. He is also a home builder, so he is really busy. He also raises cattle, for roping. Before he gave us grandkids, he rodeoed. My oldest granddaughter graduates from HS this year. The youngest will be a sophomore next year. I am a cancer survivor, 6 years. Life is good because God is good. I am excited to be here.

Hello Marilyn,

I too work in a preschool & daycare as the school school. I go home tired most days. Some day I look forward to retiring and working on my art full time. When I do have some energy left I like to work on my decoupage Art.... I call my self Vintage Artist. I also like to make jewelry, sew and cook and bake desserts and give to my church to go with the coffee.

Welcome Marilyn, from a fellow Texas FarmGirl. Now that you have time to join in on all the Farm fun let us know what you are up to. I joined the Farm last Aug at the young age of 72.

I know where Stephenville is; you are below Dallas; southwest of Paris where I live.

Have a blessed day, Sara
