Hi everybody,
I'm actually returning after a long hiatus from the website. When I tried logging on, my user name & password were not being recognized. So, I'm starting from scratch with a new profile.
We moved 6 months ago from a small, rural town to a community with lots of rules. Because our house is in the woods now, I'm pushing my limits to see what the association will put up with & what they won't. Forgiveness over permission, right? ;)
After being foster parents for 5 years & adopting 4 kiddos in that timeframe, I feel like our life is getting back to a normal pace now that we're not fostering or adopting anymore. I'm finding myself in the kitchen more, creating from scratch like I used to do. I'm excited about exploring our new community, which we share with farmers and Amish families. I look forward to getting as much local food & products as possible. I have so many things that I'm looking forward to doing & am trying to remember that one day at a time is the best I can do. I'm taking an online course for Master Herbalist because for years, I've been fascinated with the healthful benefits of herbs. Hubby & I have 7 kids total & we homeschool the 4 younger ones. I'm excited about this new journey we're on and look forward to seeing what the future holds for us here. :)

God Bless,
Lyn

Hey, Lynette. I'm not really sure either, if I'm allowed to mention the courses I took on here, so I'll email you. :)

Thanks, ladies!
Wanda, I like it! Basically, you read the books that they assign then take the book-based exams on their website. Every exam is open-book and you can keep going back to it until you have answered all the questions. Having kids & a household to run, that's very important to me, especially since the exams can have as many as 100+ questions. I'm happy about the open-book option also. There's no way I'm going to read an entire book & retain everything enough to take & pass the exam! You have 2 years to finish the course. There's 13 books & exams for this course. If you want more info, let me know. I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link here or not.

Welcome Lyn! Glad to have you back :) I understand the "forgiveness over permission" Our HOA says no chickens for agricultural purposes.... so we have them for school (we too homeschool!) I cannot imagine foster care, though one day I would love to adopt. Right now our nest is pretty full though - with number 7 on the way, and the oldest is 11! Who are you taking your herbalist class through? I have been keeping my eye on one, but right now, I just do not have enough hours in the day!!! I try to learn as I go right now, though I know there is so much out there to learn!!! Looking forward to getting to know you better!!!

Welcome back, Lyn! I'm just getting started here so you're all new to me! :) Wishing you the best with that 'community rules' thing.

Which online course are you taking? I've used only herbs for about 40 years, for everything from sniffles to tumors, and have wanted to take a course but never seemed to get around to it. How do you feel about the one you chose?

Welcome Lynette! The link below takes a minute to load (big file), but it's a recent feature in our MJF Sister Issue that sounds ideal for you (and your crew)--herbal ice-creams, page 38!

Welcome back Lyn! Looking forward to hearing more about you and your "rebellious" adventure in your new community!:) I homeschool also, and just this year I'm starting to get into the medicinal properties of herbs as well. Happy you're here! :)
