Hey everyone! Just wanted to stop by and say hello! My husband and I...plus our daughter live on a farm. I grew up in town but wanted to live in the country. after we were married, off to the farm I went. I didn't realize how tough it would be. Both being a farmer's wife and so far from town. But now... After ten years living here, I absolutely love it!! Wouldn't trade it for anything. We don't have farm animals yet, but hope to soon. We grow row crops and alfalfa. I am an artist who is inspired by my surroundings. We are in the process of building a home. Almost done and hope to be in before planting season is in full swing. Sorry to ramble a bit! :). Looking forward to getting to know you!

Thanks Sara! I am painting in an old ledger right now. Using it as an art journal. It dates back to the late 1800's.

We posted at the same time. Your second painting is awesome. I love the idea of it being painted like it was a opened book or is it really painted on the pages of a book. I'm not sure so please tell me which it is. You have such a talent and I do so hope you continue to express yourself in whatever medium you choose.

Beautiful! I really like the choice of colors and the round bales of hay in the field.

Here is one of my latest. I haven't been able to paint much during the last two years... since we started building. My husband is encouraging me to start creating full time when we move and I'm pretty excited! I would also like to start a large garden and orchard so not sure how much free time I will have! ;)

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome!! Maryjane...yes a milk cow is on the wish list. I remember watching my grandpa milking. It seemed so peaceful. Then of course watching my grandma skimming off the cream for ice cream. I want the same memories for my daughter.
I am an mixed media artist. Here is one that I did several years ago. It's the only country scene I have done. It is of our view from the front window. Our new house is being built just below the windmill in the painting. I now do some portrait paintings but I have been feeling to start painting farm and country scenes.

Big welcome Alissa! It'll be wonderful when you're finally in your new hard-earned home. Don't forget a backyard milk cow! What kind of artwork are you up to these days?
