Hi!
I'm Lori from Ohio and just wanted to say hi! I live in rural area on 20 acres with no animals except my sweet dog, Sparky! I would love to have chickens, goats, etc,,, but my dh doesn't want the repsonsibility! Still working on him for some some chickens; his dad had a hatchery for many years so he is burned out on chickens! I have 1 child, a daughter who is 20 and attending school in Nashville! During the summer she works as a photographer at Camp Barnabas,a camp for children and young adults with dissabilities. She is a social work major, and this will help her career, I'm sure! Currently, I am canning beans, potatoes, peaches, and blackberries! I love to can and see all my work in those beautiful jars! Looking for friends, especially empty nesters, who are gearing down in life! We still do a lot, but get tired a lot more easily! Had my dear daughter at the age of 41, after many, many years of trying! She is such a tremendous blessing! Hope to hear from many of you!

Lori,
Welcome! My daughter is 23 and loves photography. She has been working at a health food store the last 5 years and hates the way it is operated. She is moving out next year to spread her little wings and I will soon be an empty nester too! So sad, but so happy at the same time to see her feel strong enough to take that step on her own!

Welcome, Lori! You're going to love it here. I know I do! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

We were almost empty nesters. :) My oldest is 18, and my husband and I decided to have another little one. It's so much harder to chase a 3 year old now than it was when I was in my early 20s. lol

Your farm sounds wonderful.

I look forward to getting to know you!

Stephanie

Hi Lori,

Greeting from the N.W. I/we too only have one child. Our son who is 18 now and starting collage in Sept. I tried to can some peaches, the jars did not seal. Right now I am making plum jam, much better luck with those. All 12 jars have sealed, yeah!

Welcome, Lori! Your daughter is blessed to have a mom that is her biggest cheerleader. I can feel your pride and love for her just beaming through.

You will have fun here!

Oh my goodness, Lori - you definitely belong here! I'm big on canning and seeing all those jars, too... My dream was to one day have a cupboard that would make an Amish woman cry... And thanks to all our farmgirl sisters' encouragement and help, I'm well on my way! We just had to put up two sets of shelves so I could organize everything I've put up. It's so satisfying to walk into the room and see all those pretty jars. I'd sure love to hear more about your canning endeavors sometime. Maybe we could exchange some recipes and ideas! Well, I'm just so glad to meet you and look forward to getting to know you better! Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Hugs - Nini

Dale, I think I owe you an apology.

In your introduction you introduced yourself as Lori. When I replied I found Dale to the left and used that instead of remembering how you called yourself. Others followed my lead. I didn't catch my error until I reread your post.

Please let us know which name to use when addressing you.

Hugs, Sara

Welcome Dale!!! I am looking forward to getting to know you. I am 63, live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, have 3 grown children, one grandson. My husband retired last November, we just bought a 28' motorhome and are downsizing all of our stuff and are going to become full time RVers, starting the end of October. We are getting pretty anxious now.
