Posted - Nov 23 2013 : 10:43:01 AM I've been loving the Mary Jane magazines and books for a few years now and have been a member since Febuary, had looked at the chatrooms but had never taken the plunge. I believe I am finally ready and with my kids in tow intend to start working on the merit badges. I've always been an outdoors person and a bit of a "tree-hugger", we are very involved in Boy Scouts on all levels, including my daughters. I look forward to interacting with everyone and taking some skills to the next level and stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I also look forward to teaching my kidlets even more self reliance and skills that they once thought were beyond them here in the home and in the outdoors.
So a big hello (waving both hands) to everyone here from south Texas!

Posted - Nov 24 2013 : 08:21:31 AM Thank you everyone! We have two girls (17 & 14) and a boy (10). A dog and two cats plus a hamster, and our younger daughters revolving door of interesting bugs, we had chickens for a few years but during one really hot summer and them not having a proper coop we gave them to a hobby farm that had plenty of shade for them. We are looking at coop designs to find one that will fit our small yard and will provide plenty of shade. We are located in Corpus Christi, so towards the southern tip of Texas. Which can make gardening a challenge in many ways. We have had a few good years but usually the heat and bugs take a major toll on the plants by midsummer. I crochet, quilt, scrapbook and dabble in lots of crafts in my spare time.

Posted - Nov 23 2013 : 11:01:51 AM Welcome, Deborah! I have the honor of being the first to welcome you! This is a wonderful community. You have had a chance to look at the chatrooms, which is fun, but it gets better when we know you and you know more of us. My home in Minnesota is a long way from Texas, but we are all neighbors here. Tell us more about yourself, please. Do you have pets and/or farm animals? Do you do any kind of crafts? How many kids and what ages? It's good to have you join us. Enjoy! Susan
