Posted - Nov 21 2013 : 8:42:08 PM Hello! A little introduction about me: I have lived in Texas all my life. My hubby and I have married going on 39 years. My hobbies include most all the arts: painting, drawing, sewing, knitting (having recently discovered knitting looms!), crochet etc. I grew up playing under my grandma's quilts hanging from the ceiling and watching my mother sew. She made made all of our clothes. Ah, well, you could just say I like gardening, canning, cooking and let's not forget farming too. Farming is new! Hubby and I have a small farm raising Nubian dairy goats which now includes chickens, turkeys and pigs. Our goats provide us with milk which we use to drink and that I make soap with. Our son and his family live on property with us and help out quite a bit. Our daughter lives a hwy over and helps when she can. Our 7 grandkids love all the animals and are learning so much about farming and simple pleasures.

Posted - Dec 10 2013 : 11:02:06 AM Thank you all! I have been finding my way around the site and reading. I have a grand-daughter now working on her Young Cultivator Merit Badges and another interested. She is so excited to be able to do the fun/work for them. Due to her living with her mom and visitation schedule, scouts and 4-h are out of the question for regular attendance at meetings. This badge work gives us time to work and learn together on things.

Goodrich is a blink your eyes and you have missed it town 7 miles before you get to Livingston. We are located about 15 minutes from the Lake Livingston Dam.
My oldest grand-daughter is so interested in doing this too. She is 10. She has wanted to "belong" to something and earn badges. Since we don't see her all the time this is a perfect adventure for her!

Posted - Nov 23 2013 : 11:16:08 AM Hello Betty, and welcome.
You like a lot of the same things I do: anything artistic. I love sewing, painting, drawing, multi-media collage, cooking, gardening, you name it. Maybe you'd like to visit my blog, called Farm Girl Inspirations. www.joyelick.com. I just did a post for girls in the Farmgirl Sisterhood that you might enjoy. You're going to love being part of this whole farmgirl sister thing :-)
Blessings,
