Hello fellow farmgirls! I am so excited to find this group. My husband and I were recently able to purchase a piece of land for our homestead. My grandmother then gave me a gift of a magazine subscription for... you guessed it...Mary Janes Farm! I am hooked. I am really looking forward to making some new connections to go with my new life. Also renew old connections... especially with my own (only slightly moody)Farmerette. I look forward to sharing with all of you.

I almost forgot I wanted to tell you about myself... My name is Jodi. I am 37 and am married with 3 kids (ages 12,15,18). I love outdoor adventures and especially backpacking. Hiking the 2200 mile Appalachian trail in one trip is on my bucket list. I also like cooking, gardening and sewing. My newest interest is dairy goats. I have a small herd and a few weeks ago I got to birth a kid! That was super exciting! Next up cheesemaking. Hmmm Merit Badge? We are also raising chickens (for meat and eggs), turkeys and meat rabbits. Three dogs (Chow Chows) and two cats round out the homestead.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! Karin, we are 9 miles out of Kouts and 25 from Valpo. I moved from the LaPorte/Michigan City area and Valpo/Kouts area is so much nicer.

Hi Jodi and welcome! I'm 56 and a townie farmgirl these days although I spent my childhood on a farm and later a country home. I am married and we have 2 cats and one very spoiled shorkie named Dickens. I also have 2 grown sons. 1 daughter in law, one grandson, and 2 granddogs. I no longer work outside the home but have many crafts I love and enjoy doing as well as gardening. I know you'll love this wonderful site. Enjoy!

Welcome Jodi! I know you will love it here, so many great Farmgirls and so much to learn. How far out of town are you? I grew up in Valpo, moved south when we married, then last year when my husband retired moved from Texas up to Nashville in Brown County, In. I'm looking forward to hearing how things are progressing on your homestead.

Welcome Jodi!!!! Sounds like you have a very busy but happy life!!!! I am 62 and live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a small city of about 12,000. We are not allowed to have rabbits of chickens here in town, so the only animal I have is a 3 year old Yorkie named Olivia. I have 3 grown children, my youngest just turned 35 today!!! My, how time flies!!! Looking forward to knowing you better. I know you will love it here.
