Hi everyone! I'm so excited to have found this forum and the magazine. Like a breath of fresh air!

I grew up in the DC area, but the older I get, the more I know city life isn't for me. I live in a small beach town now, and am learning about herbs, canning, making products from scratch, etc. I just canned for the first time this weekend, and have a couple herbal medicines under my belt. I signed up for a space in my church community garden and can't wait to plant!

My grandpa grew up on a farm, and I have fond memories of his amazing veggie garden and tomatoes and summers going to nearby farms for corn and watermelon. Hoping to get back to my roots and learn from everyone! I have a Pinterest board to dream about my country home in the meantime

Hey, Addy. I moved from DC out to Virginia horse country about 20 years ago. Sorry I missed you when our paths might have crossed. I lived in Florida as a little kid (Patrick AFB in the 1950s) and remember the gardening challenges my mom faced. There is another Farmgirl in Florida who has the most amazing gardens. Wish I could remember her name. It would be cool if you lived near each other and could get together. Let us know how it goes! And if you ever want to reminisce about DC, give me a holler :)

Hi Addy and welcome to MJ's! Sounds like you've found an idyllic home and I'm happy to meet you. I'm a Pinterest addict..whoa is me...LOL. I love that site and spent a few months away from MJ's playing in there but put myself in rehab and decided it was time to come "Home" to MJ's. Joking on the rehab part but I do know how much time I spent in that place....woooo. Have fun here!
