Hello farm Girls!
I am so very excited to join this fellowship of women! I have been lonely for women with common interests and goals. My first name is Laurie and I am Momma Hartley to 6 grown children, 3 of the heart and 3 of the body.(as well as many friends of my children) I have 9 current grandchildren from our older 3 with 2 more due this October. I have 2 dogs who are very spoiled. This past Valentines Day I celebrated 25 beautiful loving years to my sweetheart Bill. Our youngest sons still live at home at ages 19/20 but Brian(20) has joined the Navy. He leaves July 16th. Samuel will stay with us I think for a while longer, he says forever but I don't think so. hahaha. My husband and I bought a mini farm of 12 acres In TN right before he was transferred here to Florida for his job. We are only 6 hours away so we go back whenever possible especially since it is where Bill's family is. Our goal is 8 yrs til retirement, farm will be paid off and we will have a farm open for Christmas trees, and other seasonal activities.
We are currently in limbo as we wait for Bill's possible big promotion to come thru and a possible move to St Louis for a yr. Whew lots going on but that's the jest of my life as it stands.
Just waiting patiently for things to come and trying to stay sane until it passes. I love getting ready for all to come including my 2 sweet new grand babies. Also please keep our son Christopher(US Army) in your prayers as he is getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan for the 3rd time at the end of June.
Thanks again ladies for letting me be a part of something terrific!

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Welcome Mamahartley,
The thing I like about MJF farmsisters is the association of women on this site. The only females in our family are married into it. So mostly male talk around here. Even the cat and dog are males. Lol. So welcome and enjoy this great place to me.

Hi Lauri, (mama hartley)
I am glad to welcome you to the farm, where everyone enjoys just being around everyone.
I think so anyway, I will put your son Christopher in my prayer book and keep him there for safety in Afghanistan.
Prayers for your family too, and please thank Brian, and Christopher for me and a big hug too. My daughter and her husband just got out of the Navy, she was in 10 years and he was in 6years and is now ready to get training for work. They have twin baby girls,
Welcome again.
hugs
darlene

Just follow God unquestioningly.

Hello Laurie, and welcome to the group! What a sweet introduction...thank you for your openness and trust with so many tender and important details of your life. Rest assured that you and your family will be in my thoughts as so many transitions appear on the horizon in the months to come. And somehow, in and around all the bees buzzin' around the hive, we all find laughter and meaning and joy. Such is life, yes?

Right now I"m sitting in front of my screen door as the most gorgeous thunderstorm pours in from the southwest--remnants of what passed through Oklahoma earlier, no doubt. Thoughts and good wishes follow them as well...can only imagine how they're unfolding this week of their lives.

Chickens and rabbits all tucked in for the night, cat asleep in the sewing room, right under the south-facing window, so he gets to see the light show going on at the moment, and me, grateful for the chance to be alive another day, that I can walk, have a job, a dear best friend husband whom I'm nuts about, and the chance to meet so many neat people every day. Any of that could be gone in a second. I am lucky today.

Have a good time exploring the other topics on the forum, and bumping into folks here and there who share your interests, and want to get to know you better. Glad you joined up! Let's keep the conversation going!
