Hello everyone!
I'm new to the Farmgirl Connection as of today. I look forward to chatting with fellow farmgirls at heart. I love gardening, painting, baking, and other crafts. Currently researching homemade soaps and I have been in the process of creating gluten-free homemade recipes for my husband who was recently diagnosed with Celiac's. I have 3 children and I "home school" my oldest. Think Connections Academy online but you still teach your children using their books and lessons.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to soaking in the wisdom you peeps have to share.

Welcome! Glad to see you on the MJF board, and I look forward to hearing about life in Minnesota. My daughter has four gluten intolerant children, so we have spent a lot of time learning about the really good food out there that is gluten free! She also homeschools. Both things are not easy tasks (learning new ways to cook and schooling your children). Good for you!

Changelle: Welcome to MJF. Some time you will have to come to our chapter meeting at April's house. She lives on a farm south of New Prague. We have lots of fun. I know it's far away but you are welcome at any time. The whole group has many home schoolers. I have painted some rocks too but it's been awhile. Nice to have you with us.

will2farm that sounds like an awesome idea. I'm doing all I can to get enough stock to fill my mom's shelves at the moment but I'll see how many extras I can make this winter in my down time. Maybe next year I'll have enough to send off. We'll see

Welcome Chantelle! MJF is so cool..so many nice people with so many ideas. Your mom must be extremely busy this time of year. A friend and I are trying our hands at growing/selling vegetables at a farmers market this year so if you get your website up and going let me know and maybe we could sell a few of your painted rocks for you. It's a new market this year and I don't think anyone has that product offered. I envy you for having the ability to paint. I'm very non artistic. In fact, my mom used to tell me the only thing I could draw was flies. While she would double over in laughter I struggled to find the humor in it:) Lookin forward to getting to know you and hope you enjoy MJF.

What kind of painting? I use water based acrylics for landscapes and painted rocks. I make painted frogs, turtles, snakes, ladybugs, penguins, bumblebees, and such with the acrylics and then seal them with a cement sealer so they are water proof and can be kept in outside gardens. I just started selling them this year in my mother's shop for her greenhouse business. RhodesGardenCenter.com is her greenhouse biz. I haven't gotten my website up for my rocks tho. I went to school for web design and programming and it feels like I lost some of the knowledge along the way. At least I have all my books to refresh the mind.

Welcome Chantelle,
I'm from southern Minnesota, but know were Nevis is. It sounds like you will fit right in here. We homeschooled our 3 kids and there are a lot of homeschoolers here. Like many others here I love gardening, crafts and baking/cooking. Check out the different sections here, so much to learn and share, such great people to get to know. One thing I have really enjoyed is checking out the blogs and other websites that many list on their posts, so many caring creative women!

Hello and Welcome, Chatelle! What kind of painting do you do? I too love gardening and baking--just made a wicked-good bourbon sour cherry bread pudding using day-old yeast donuts from a local bakery. The house has smelled great for days...

I look forward to your contributions to this and other MJF forums, and getting to know you better.

Happy days!

Liz
