Posted - Sep 13 2012 : 3:17:47 PM Hi, everyone! I have just received my Farmgirl packet in the mail, and I am so excited! I printed out the merit badge manual and have already picked some to start with.
I live in a rural area between Williamsburg and Richmond, Virginia. We have about 9 acres with 5 dogs and a barn that currently holds a car! My dream is to keep bees and help the honeybees that have been devastated by colony collapse disorder. We have planted some native plants and flowers, and I love the idea that the bees will use them for nectar. I chatted with a Richmond beekeeper recently, and he said that eating local honey has completely taken care of his seasonal allergies!
My passion is hand needlework: cross stitch on linen and all counted thread work. I also love sewing, crafting, you name it! I am in heaven with needle and thread!
Thanks for having the Welcome Wagon section...I feel like I belong already. |

Posted - Sep 13 2012 : 7:53:42 PM Welcome, Erika! You will love it here! I enjoy needlework also. Mostly, embroidery now that the eyes are getting older. We used to raise bees: but, have not since they swarmed years ago. Started planting butterfly and bee perennials about 3years ago, and can see the bees are coming back. Yay!
