Posted - Aug 30 2012 : 10:39:12 AM I am a 69 year old disabled farm wife and retired special education teacher. My friend who is 66 and disable and I knit for charitythru a group known as Hillsboro Church of Christ Knitwitters. We also knit for our local elementary students who need it. We knit for the homeless (lap robes, hats, scarves, donate gloves), chemo hats, babies (blankets, sweaters, hats, etc.), for nursing homes (laprobes), and soldiers (helmet liners, laprobes, hats, scarves), and for elementary students who need hats (donate gloves). However, we are running out of yarn and we have used our own stash and yarn that has been donated to us for the past 3 or 4 years. We have just finished 100 hats for needy school children in our area. If anyone has yarn that they want to see used in such a work of service to others, please mail yarn to Gayle Gilmer, 4042 Lost Creek Rd., Lobelville, TN 37097. We cannot use yarn that has been chewed on by animals, but any other type of yarn would be much appreciated. Thanks. If anyone would like to see some of our work, I have a fb page as well as email me at gilmergd@gmail.com All yarn is greatly appreciated.

Posted - Sep 06 2012 : 4:58:43 PM Thanks, Killarney. What a beautiful Irish name.
Thanks your offer to send yarn. We can use all we get. When I went to the dr. yesterday, we left 135 hats, blankets for babies, and chemo hats and baby quilts. So we can use it.

Posted - Sep 03 2012 : 03:47:26 AM Hello Gayle! Welcome to the group :) I think it is awesome that you and your friend are knitting for other people out of the kindness of your hearts. I have just begun crocheting, so I don't have any extra yarn at the moment, but when I get extra yarn, I will mail it to you.
