Posted - Jun 14 2012 : 6:02:13 PM Howdy! New girl from Okie!
My home is in the beautiful mountains of SE OK, family land with handmade log cabins, wild turkey and deer, a family of very comical bears and a large garden. We are an hour and a half away from everything, and no cell service makes a quiet home.
But I'm not on my mountain. Along with all the solitude, there isn't much opportunity for jobs. So, about a month ago I moved to the big city and into a very small apartment with a very small balcony. And a tiny, tiny kitchen. This is just a small set back for my goal of off-the-grid living, but with a son in college and a teen girl it was a needed step. So now I'll learn to be a farm girl in the city. I believe in growing where you are planted!
I'm glad I found this site and look forward to learning and sharing. |

Posted - Jun 15 2012 : 3:56:52 PM Welcome Shanda! You know, we all have had to make choices that suited our immediate needs rather than our longed-for dreams, but such as life, right? You just keep on keeping on and that's what make you perfect FG material. What's that saying? "When life hands you lemons...?" It's so good to have you here and in OK too; I was beginning to wonder if there weren't too many of us. Have fun!
Love and Hugs! Kathryn

Posted - Jun 15 2012 : 06:22:35 AM Welcome Shanda! I know you will love it here. We often drove from Texas to Eureka Springs, Ark through SE OK, and it is a lovely area. Which big city did you move to? We lived in Tulsa for 18 months while my husband went to aviation school. Hope all works out well for you while you're in the city.
