Wow! I can't believe I'm really posting! I've been reading posts since last spring and enjoying/admiring/learning from and about all you strong, fantastic farmgirls! I'm living in Louisville, but my husband and I own 23 acres in a small town(Irvington,KY) about an hour from here. On the weekends, we work on the old farmhouse(restoration) and the new addition we put on(a real learning experience - think money pit here)! We grow nearly 200 varieties of daylilies also. I'm a secretary in a community college and my husband is the director of an animal shelter in Indiana. We have 5 dogs, lots of cats, and are the primary caretakers of a moluccan cockatoo someone turned in to the animal shelter.

Thanks for all the words of welcome. My screen name comes from the name of my farm: Bee Haven Farm. We named it that because wild honeybees were living in the walls of the old farmhouse when we started this adventure. So I decreed myself to be 'Miss Bee Haven'. :) The daylilies are in riotous bloom throughout June and July(some start in May). And taking care of a cockatoo is one of the joys of my life - he asks if he can 'take a shower' and he dances, but only to rock music! Miss Frannie - congratulations on the blessings of lots of babies! I've seen some of the photos of your farm you've posted and it's glorious!! Bee Haven is in Breckinridge County(I'll have to look up and see how far apart we are). I'm only online at work - not even 'slooow dial up' at home, and we haven't even finished the plumbing at the farm, let alone be 'hooked up'. :)

Hi, Janice! I'm imagining the daylily farm and I'll bet it's just loverly! We live in an old house, too, and I can sympathize - and I agree with Jenny that they are worth it. You'll just love it when you're finished, I'm sure. I'm glad you decided to join us - can't wait to get to know you better!

XOXO, Libbie

Welcome Janice!! I am so glad you decided to post. It is so fun having so many new gals here..alot have joined in just this week!! Kentucky is so pretty!! I have only been there once, 4 years ago when my sweet grandbaby was born. Oldest son lived there (near Paducah in Possum Trot) and I was so impressed with how pretty it was there! ( and how hot and humid..we were there in early August!)
I bet your place is so pretty with all the daylillies!! and a parrot..how fun!!!!
I understand having a money pit for a house..but arn't old houses so worth it?? How fun!!
Anyway..welcome to the group...I bet you will love it here!
