Posted - Jul 17 2011 : 05:56:57 AM Hi! I SO tickled to FINALLY be getting onto the MJF site! My mom gives me her mags, and I find them very inspirational in a lot of areas, and WOW--the eye candy!! :)
I'm 27, stay-at-home mom to 3 (4 yrs, 2.5 yrs, and 8 mos), I sew a LOT, budget a lot, and my husband and I actively work toward an eco-friendly, low-cost, self-sustainable lifestyle. DH is a chemical engineer and I have a psych degree that, as a mom, I regularly use (haha!) but am almost never paid for.
Hmm, about me... My to-do list yesterday is a good cross-section of my life. Here's what I completed: homemade mayo (made with farm eggs), raspberry syrup, strawberry jam, breads (quick and sandwich), pasta salad for the next few days, sugar cookies; handwritten notes (sympathy, thank-you) to send snail mail; handmade pillowcases (from thrifted fabric). What will be done today: sewing a high chair harness for the baby; mending some cloth diapers; re-upholstering the last 2 dining room chairs (part of a set that we got for a steal on craigslist.com because we rarely buy anything new); homemade, slow-cooked tomato sauce (made from our garden tomatoes). And that doesn't include the laundry that was on the line before 7 am, the cleaning that never ended, and the feeding and bathing and distracting of the kiddos. So, we stay busy!
I'm so excited to explore this site! But for now, the many small voices around the breakfast table are calling. There's more on my blog, if you're interested.
*Melody*

Posted - Jul 17 2011 : 12:27:54 PM You sound like you're going to fit right in, Melody! Our day was feeding chickens, mending some clothes, picking up a combine and driving it 13 miles to the farm, feeding cattle...not many "non-farm" people know what a busy life it really is! Welcome! :)
