Greetings! I found this website from the Muller Lane Farm gal! Thanks so much!

I live in the North western area of Illinois, we are currently surrounded by corn and bean fields!
We have just a little under 2 acres outside of town and we are starting to learn the comforts of country living. My husband and I are truly finding ourselves out here.

We just started chickens and are looking forward to their eggs in the fall! I spend all my spare time in my garden of weeden. I love to sew, knit, can....and any other new traits I can discover! I believe in the basics and I am working hard to teach my 2 daughters there is more to life then what our current society is offering them.

Great to be here and I can't wait to learn from you all!

Jen

Hi Jen!! Glad to hear you are teaching your daughters there is more to life than I-pods and cell phones. I'm trying to do the same. Glad you are enjoying your country life, you and I have the same hobbies. You'll love it here, I do!!

I am a Illinois Native and happy to be far from the city of Chicago, that's a good 2 hour drive for me. The information here is overwelming almost! It should keep me busy for a while reading through all the neat posts! So happy to find this.

Welcome Jen! I like how you put it: "teaching my daughters there is more to life than what our current society is offering them." That's exactly how my husband and I feel about raising our son. You've come to the right place! I know you'll have a lot of fun here.

Welcome to the forum, Jen! I know you'll have lots to tell us as you and your family continue your country living experience.

Are you a Illinois native? I had a hard time thinking of corn and beanfields in the same sentence as Illinois - my family lived near Chicago in Niles, IL for one year when I was a kid, and I don't remember much of the country life back then. It was nice to read your post! Let us know how your chickens and eggs come along.
