Posted - Jun 20 2011 : 5:23:44 PM I just found y'all. Anyone else from Va or NC?
I'm semi-retired. I like to tell folks I'm 12 miles from a good loaf of bread. Really I'm just in the countryfied outskirts of a city, small in population and large in land mass.
I make lampwork glass beads, paint floor cloths, sew, dye fabric, garden, can, make soap, and hang around the house with my hubby and the two cats.
I'm looking forward to browsing the forums and getting to know everyone.
Linda

Hi, again, Linda. Yes, Fauquier County is "horse country." Next time you're up this way, let me know and we can "visit" :-)
How far are you from Fredericksburg? I get up there every once in a while. A bead store called Beads on Parade sells my handmade lampwork beads on consignment for me.
Waving to central VA, Eastern Shore and NJ!

Posted - Jun 26 2011 : 1:08:00 PM Hi Rosemary and Lorraine. Iin Suffolk, considered part of Hampton Roads. I'm 50 miles from Virginia Beach. To give you an idea of how big Suffolk is land wise, my step dad also lives in Suffolk and he is 22 miles away. I you look at the Dismal Swamp on google maps, my house is on the road directly west of the big lake, Lake Drummond.
I've been trough Fauquier county many times. Horse country, right? I'm about an hour and a half se of Richmond.
Some of my things can be seen in the gallery section of my link in post above.
I've been wanting to get some chickens but I just heard about my neighbor's hunting dog killing some chickens across the way.

Paula, you can see some of my floor cloths here:

My favorite one is not shown, it's a large black one with red and yellow flame borders. It's protects my wood floor from hot flying glass when I'm melting glass to make beads.
