So, I have been stalking for a bit and feel a tad overwhelmed by the site! But I will muddle through as best I can!
Originally from Brooklyn, NY my family moved to NE PA about 12 years ago. It was odd at first and truthfully, there are days I want to move "back home" but I think that is purely to go back to what is familiar to me !
We live in a small town that is surrounded by many farms---though these numbers are getting smaller. I used to want a BIG farm, but realized that it is SO much work! I admire those that can!

At the moment there is nothing really "farmlike" about our home/life style. I am hoping to glean some information to change that!

We have about 1/3 of an acre and since we are "inside" the town borough we cannot have any livestock. Bummer as I really would have chickens :0). So, I am going to start with some gardening and countrifying my home!

I LOVE to:
sew
craft
read
write
garden veggies and herbs (though I have not had a garden in this house yet)
reno old furniture
shop frugally
cook healthy-though I am always in a state of trying to shed my NEXT 50 pounds!!!)
And most of all I LOVE my family---1 hubby, 4 kids (ages 13, 14, 17--boys all reaching these ages this summer, 19--my only girl who is off at college! 1 dog, 1 rabbit, 2 turtles---and my wonderful mother and father in law live with us--that last one is a good thing---REALLY! We get along famously!
I am hoping to:
learn a lot from the ladies here
get back into the habit of blogging
work on selling my hand made items on line
get my house to looking like I really wish it to---country/shabby chic!

I am sure I could go on--and ON, but I will leave my intro at this!
Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

I think a zip line looks like so much fun - but somebody would probably have to push me off the platform!

Have a good day!

:0)---small world indeed! My 2 younger boys-ages 12 and 13-are enrolled in a PA cyber school and this is their second visit to this camp. It is mad fun for them...but you won't find me on any zip line!!!

Hi Donna -

I know where Pocono Plateau is - I just never heard it called Adventure Camp before. Actually, it's only a few miles from my house!

Here is a link to where we are going!
Getting together would be nice---though the schedule for us is about to get crazy since we have 1 available vehicle and three kids that need to get to summer jobs 0_0...

:0)...

Hi Donna -

Guess I'm out of touch - I didn't even know Cresco had an Adventure Camp!!!

Maybe we can meet for lunch one of these days. I work full time, so it would have to been in the evening. My weekends are pretty much tied up too.

Thanks for all the warm welcome-s :0).

Hey Luanne---I do go to HWH but not as much as my son! The youth group at our church loves it and goes a few times a month :0). Cresco is really a hop away---i will be there on Friday as my 2 other sons have a school field trip to the Adventure Camp over there. Nothing like zip-lines to make a 12 and 13 yo boy happy!

So many awesome threads...I will take my time and fall into place! Thanks again Ladies!

Hey Donna!

We're practically neighbors! I live in Cresco, but am in Honesdale often because my BF lives in Hamlin and his mother and sister live in Lake Ariel. We love to have dinner at the Halfway House - have you ever been there? BF and the restaurant owner are really good friends and went to high school together.

I don't have a farm either - in fact I live in an apartment in town. But, my BF has 65 acres and we do lots of outdoor "stuff" - logging, keeping bees, gardening, etc., so I feel like a farmgirl. Plus, my grandparents were dairy farmers, so I think it's in my blood anyway!

Hope you enjoy this site - don't get overwhelmed, just read a little hear and there until you find the forums you are the most interested in. I've never met such a nice group of ladies!

Big Farmgirl Hugs -

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hello from Tennessee Donna! Welcome to the site. Just start posting and you will figure it all out. These ladies are very understanding of us newbies. Like MJ says being a farmgirl is a condition of the heart. So you qualify! Yea! Looking forward to hearing from you on the forum.

Hi Donna, Welcome to the forum...you will fit right in here perfectly. Just "bloom where you are planted" and create your own little world with what you have, right where you are. I live in Colorado, but am moving back to PA this May, so I will be a PA farmgirl soon. Keep exploring and enjoy yourself here....we are very glad to have you:) Hugs, Erica

Hey Donna,
This is from Ga/Ohio. I have lived in NE. Ga for about 28 years & originally from a small town in Ohio. We still call Ohio home for some friends and family still live there. There had been a time when I thought that we would move back HOME but the years have crept on and we are still in Ga. Now my mother lives here too. (which is wonderful) We love the weather here. My hubby is in Ohio now visiting and they have had rain and more rain. Have you had this kind of weather too? Go to debra e website for more info on me. Good to have you here on the farm. It's fun.
