Hi! My name is Deborah and I've just joined the Farmgirl Connection---and just received my Farmgirl Sisterhood badge! I live in Starkville Mississippi and work at Mississippi State University. Despite living in a rural area and working at a landgrant school, I'm a pretty urban chick who's just discovered an interest in the farmgirl lifestyle.

A friend of mine thinks it's my version of a mid-life crisis---and maybe she's right, since I'm turning 50 this year. But I decided that I wanted to focus on what I refer to as "home arts" for the year, learning some of those skills that women used to have almost as a birthright. My goals for the year include eating healthier (which means making more of my own food), learning to knit and crochet, and even picking up a pattern and sewing an apron. Then I discovered some issues of MaryJaneFarms magazine on the give-away table at my public library. I couldn't believe there was a community focused on many of the goals I had set for myself! So I'm very excited to get to know folks online, to learn a few new skills, and to have a lot of fun!

Professor, librarian, writer and farmgirl!

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Hey form Ga. I loved 4-h. I was never a leader but was involved for many years.(and many years ago. I started at the age of 10 and I am 58) I learned alot about sewing and cooking and raising farm animals from 4-h. My leader was a great mentor of mine. This is why I love this farmgirl "stuff." It reminds me of all my 4-h friends. Welcome to the farm
