I am from Suwanne Georgia and new to the Farmgirl Connection and just wanted to Hi to all the farmgirls out there. I am originally from Ohio Amish Country and farming and gardening is in the family. I have a large garden that I grow herbs, flowers, and some vegetables. (Love to cook with fresh herbs) I also have a glass bottle garden. That has been the easiest to grow for the deer leave those alone. There is a small cottage barn in the garden that I use for planting and to display all the memorabila that was in boxes in a closet. I have old family pictures hanging up and even the 1960 Barbie doll that I played with as a kid. Old family aprons hang in there and some antique spice cans. It is like a step back in time out there. I call this My Hen House...NO ROOSTERS ALLOWED
Just wanted to share

Hi farm gals,
It has been about a year that I have been on this forum...The last that I had been posting was on the farm girls 50 forum. Is there anyone that has been on that forum that remembers me?

2012 was a difficult year with a lot of trials. It was hard to keep up with all in my daily routine that me posting on MJ Forum was dropped. I would check time to time just to see what other people were posting and now I am in a better place with my time and routine that I may be able to get back to the farm a little more often.

Jan 17 2012 my hubby had a viral attack on his vestibular nerve in his inner ear creating him to be off balance with stroke like symptoms. Very swimmy headed. After seeing many Drs. and specialists for the next 6 months the diagnosis was that this will be permanent nerve damage and that his body will have to compensate. Hubby is doing better and his body did compensate for the left side nerve damage. He is still swimmy but functions well. There are only a few things that he has to backed off doing but so much better.
Along with all of this my mom was diagnosed with dementia this past June and I have had to pay more attention to her needs. We have good and bad days.
So! Now that we are adjusting to our new normal I am hoping to get back to the farm to visit with all of you.
Y'all have a good day.

We actually got down to 62 last night. At 10 AM it was 72 & now it's 78 at 2 PM. Lovin' this! Tonight is suppose to be high 50's. You'll all hear me happily/comfortably snoring from your regions! lol Ahhhhh, yes, I can finally sleep!

We had a cooler day yesterday and hopefully it will be cooler today. No rain yesterday. The humidity is high today so maybe.... We went to Jacksonville to shop and it was a lot warmer there but air conditioned in the Costco where we were. I hope you get some rain up there in GA, Debra.
Glad things are good for you, Judy. 67 degrees, aaaaaah! How nice!!

It's midnite and 67 and no humidity. We had lots of hearty breezes all day, must have blown the moisture out. No complaints here, that's for sure!

No not yet! We were supposed to have rain and even storms last night...but none. It was cooler though this am.... but then as the day went on... whewww! it was a hot one. Hubby and I were working at mom's today. Poor hubby wanted to get the yard done and in this heat. He made it with lots of water.
I saw that Ohio's weather was cooler and less humidity. Yippeee!

Hi Debra, I saw the picture of the pinwheels and I had to let you know how pretty they look. I am so sorry about your injury. I hate those electric trimmers. Whenever my husband is using ours I get a little worried that he will injure himself. You are right about injuries to animals and other people. I can really deal with them better than ones on myself.

The pinwheels have made my day brighter and I thank you for sending down some rain last evening and hope for some more today. Never thought I would be praying for rain.

Have a great day. Hugs,

Nancy

I'm like that too. I can just jump in and do what needs do'in when it's another person. But come at me with a needle and I'm gone. hahahaha We ARE weenies!!! BUT we are MJFarmgirl weenies! That makes it totally acceptable! Also, I can deal with animal injuries better than human injuries...what's THAT about? lol
I'm glad your Hubby is being sweet & helpful, Bless him.I've not been to Georgia in years, but I'd make the trip if I had too, just to open a can of "Whoop-Butt" on him!! teehee Take care of yourself my dear!

Hey Judy,
Actually it isn't deep but lacerated and bruised to the bone.
Hubby was a gem. I had made it to my mom's kitchen to wrap the finger in a parper towel and to look at what happened. Next thing I knew I was spinning and sinking to the floor. (passed out)Hubby came to rescue. I am such a whimp when it comes to stuff like this on me...come at me with a white lab coat and a stethascope and I pass out. But if something is happening to someone else you can count on me.I can step right up. (I am a weenie for myself)
Anyway... the finger is healing nicely. Hubby is keeping it wraped up for me and we are soaking it in a iodine solution.
I have family in Beach City and Starsburg and they keep me posted on the Ohio weather. I know it has been sweltering there. I think your temps and weather is pretty comparable to ours in Ga.
Stay cool and thanks for the Healing Hug,

debra e

Do y'all want to know the stupid, stupid, careless thing I did???

My hubby and I were trimming bushes at my mom's.She has a lot of bushes in front of her house and we both had electric trimmers going. Stupidly I had taken the lock off the trimmers which lets the trimmers keep running when you take your finger off the trigger.(I was in a hurry and almost done) Went to move the cord out of the way and cut my finger. OUCH!!! and then cut the cord!
Wasn't paying attenetion to what I was doing and not taking the percautions. (a lesson farm girls!)

P.S. Typing with one hand

Look what I put in the garden.
Giant pinwheels! HUGE!
I wanted some fun in the garden.
And they are!
My summer has been so hectic. As I stated before my mom's health has not been good and a lot of time and attention has been spent with her. It has become hard to keep up with all of our chores and her's too. Somedays are harder than others...and I am finding out that is mostly because of my attitude. So when I am in a negative, feel sorry for me,stomping my feet,Boo Hoo Boo Hoo mood...I go out and buy giant pin wheels!(the best part...They were 90% off)
It's gonna be a great day

P.S. I want to thank all that have said prayers for her. She is on the up swing of things and that has lightened the load for me and my hubby! We are Blessed

Thanks y'all,
debra, e

Debra I jumped in at the end of this segment so never got to say "Welcome". Sorry it took me so long. I love your garden cabin. I am sorry to hear about your mom. The heat we are all in is hard on all of us but especially the elderly.I said a prayer for her also.
