I've made a couple of posts, but thought I should introduce myself. I live in rural Indiana and always have except for a few years in the 70's. At that time I made North Carolina my second home. My DH and our two Bengal kitties (Belle and Beau) live on a ridge overlooking the Wabash River. DH worked 32 years as a railroad engineer until he was disabled in a railroad accident. Now he is a full time house and pool boy! We raised one daughter (29 years old!!) who lives about an hour and a half away and has since her graduation from Purdue (a land grant ag school here in the Midwest that some of you may have heard of!). I work at our tiny Critical Access hospital in Nursing Administration. Sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening and writing are my hobbies. This looks like a fun place, so I'm going back to reading all your interesting posts!

Welcome Audrey!
Writing is a hobby of mine as well! On my wanna be hobbie list is gardening, sewing, and crocheting to name a few so seems I could benefit from reading on your post!! Your place sounds wonderful! I love animals and our little farm to be has started with 2 dogs ( a Golden and a Yorkie) a pursian kitty and a canary..not the usual farm suspects but I am trying! Looking forward to enjoying more of your post!

Yeah for primitive quilts! My machine is my first gift my husband gave me, the Christmas after he proposed! If I thought I'd do any machine quilting, I'd look at Vikings, too.... DH has offered to upgrade. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! Phils Ann, I primarily do piecing by machine. I love to do hand applique. My preferred quilts are primitive or traditional - not really into art quilts. I have acquired a Viking Mega Quilter but haven't begun any machine quilting adventures yet.

Mumof3 - I'm afraid I'm not the can cozy knitter, but they sound interesting. I've finished a couple of pairs of socks lately and have just started a new pair with alpaca from a cooperative that a friend got for me. She is friends with a lady who has alpaca and is a member of the co-op.

My preference when crocheting is lace (thread and small hooks) but I have a pair of socks and a sweater to get to work on soon.

We are truly blessed to live here in this little corner of heaven. Makes it hard to leave for work each morning, but it is so easy to come home to.

Thank you all again for the welcome. I'm off to the Stitching Room to catch up!

Hi Audrey,

Welcome to you. I also do a lot of sewing. Am trying to learn to crochet, but I really think I need someone to sit down with me. It sounds beautiful by the river. Will be happy to get to know you.

Welcome, Audrey,
It sounds like you will have another home on this forum, this one is for fun and learning and it sounds like yours is for fun and relaxation. It sounds wonderful, I don't know what it is about waterways, but I can sit and watch them for long periods of time, how nice to have that in your "back yard." Looking forward to learning from all your ideas and expertise in the hobbines that you love. Blessings to you.

Lynda L.

I want to welcome you too, Audrey...how fun that you found us. Alot of us here have similar hobbies. I love to quilt and knit and sew also. I know how to crochet, but rarely do. I guess I should find time. I tend to like to crochet little stuff..like lace and doilies, but knit with yarn.
Your place sounds so pretty.
I am a handwork sort of gal too. I love hand quilting, but do my peicing mostly by machine. (I am rather impatient)
It will be fun to get to know you better here. You sound like you are a kindred spirit for sure!

Welcome to the forum Audrey! I thought that I had seen your posts- you have the darling little knit can cosies! I agree with Ann, I bet your home over the river is wonderful. I could think of nothing more peaceful than to look out on a gently flowing river everyday.
Look forward to having you share some of your quilting expertise.

Welcome Audrey! This IS a fun place with lots of good ideas and feedback, and much kindness. Bet your home overlooking the Wabash is lovely. Your life sounds very full and interesting. I, too, am a quilter, and always want to know: What type of quilting do you do? I'm a hand sewing type as much as possible, but will use a machine to sew long strips and binding. I find handwork relaxing, and also, (sigh) just do a better job by hand! I'll be looking for your posts.
Ann
