Posted - May 27 2006 : 7:30:49 PM Glad to be here among fellow farm girls.
Today I left my husband. He left me a long time ago--years ago. He even did the paperwork in court for a divorce--the judge dissolved our family in March. She wished us good luck when she was done.
Before the paperwork, we moved from our little farm in rural Pennsylvania to Tallahassee because my husband found a different job. My farmgirl spirit has been hurting.
So now to the future. I want to get out of this apartment, back to the farmgirl life. I'd love to have some company along the way.
Cathy

Posted - May 29 2006 : 7:59:45 PM Welcome Cathy, you sure have come to a good place for the support and advice from alot of very strong women. I got married when I was 17 and divorced when I was 34. It took me many years to finally make that much needed move because I was so scared of the future and not knowing what would happen. It was silly of me, I know that now. It started a whole new chapter in my life and I've got 2 more great boys and the life I always dreamed of in the country. I'm kind of envious of you because you're starting a whole new chapter in your life, filled with possibilities. Your kids sound great! Take care! Cheryl

Posted - May 29 2006 : 5:29:29 PM Thanks for all your kind words of support to a stranger. I'll savor them all real soon when I get a chance. Right now I'm visiting my mom in Memphis. I'm here with my three absolutely fabulous kiddos--one 18yo (who will be someone's perfect man, I'm sure), one 17yo woman (!) and a delightful 13yo guy.
thanks again |

Posted - May 29 2006 : 1:22:00 PM Dear Cathy! Welcome to the board from another Floridian !I'm coming to tally in the fall. I'm way down south of ya on the east coast! Y'all can't beat the growing seasons (note the plural )! So ya found the right place on the net and off! How long ya been a Tallahassee lassie? I like the shell fish analogy and it works because whats thanksgiving with out oyster dressing. but really as the oyster sticks it's foot out and digs out the spot to hold onto against the tides that try to drag them away so we too do dig out a spotfor our dreams and these little irritations we get under our skin along the way become our pearls with time. I love the mother of pearlstory how she takes 1000's of years from the glory of the heavens that come to rest on the ocean bed and make herself to shine secretly and what an iridescent shine! Truly a gift from the sky to the sea...Love the goosecreek name as I love goosecreek symphony! Are ya a fan or been to floyd county? http://www.myspace.com/goosecreeksymphony
and boy howdy now my Cassanova is the perfect guy nudge nudge o AuntJenny play fair |

Posted - May 29 2006 : 11:05:00 AM Greetings, Cathy. I am new to this forum myself and although I have only posted once or twice (not to mention the erroneous post I tried to send --- I can't surf the net, I can barely swim!). The farmgirls here are very supportive, eager to help and have lots of information to share. I have been in your shoes before and all I can say is that when the clouds start to blow away it will be your turn to shine; A woman is like a teabag; you never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water! Onward and upward! Nance |

Posted - May 28 2006 : 06:02:31 AM We are so happy to have you join us! This is a wonderful group of caring women - and we are all here for you! Sometimes things happen for reasons that are beyond our scope of seeing - this must be one of those times for you. I am a strong believer in the power of a woman and I know you are strong - I can sense that in your very words! There is a wonderful empowering book you should read called Let Your Goddess Grow by Charlene Powers - I have just read it and interviewed her - that book was such an inspiration to me - if you get a chance to check it out at the library or see it someplace else - do it! If you ever just need to talk, email me - I am always home! Blessed Be!

Posted - May 27 2006 : 10:25:13 PM I want to welcome you too, Cathy! Alot of us have "been there" and I guess my only advice is to follow your dreams. I have found that it can be just as cheap to rent in the country as an apartment. I was single for quite some time until I found my nearly perfect (is any man REALLY perfect?) husband after a failed marriage where I also found myself going from a place in the country to an apartment with the kids and dog..quite a change. You can do it! We will be here for ya!! What are your hobbies? It will be fun to get to know you here.
