Posted - May 25 2006 : 07:58:33 AM Mornin' everybody and greetings from Kansas! I had a friend recommend MJF to me and what I've seen so far is wonderful. I'm planning a trip to a bookstore this weekend and am planning on getting more of her reading material...YEA! I can hardly wait. Anyway, a little about myself...I was a farmgirl when I was much younger and then circumstances made it so that I had to live in the city for most of my life; I was still a farmgirl at heart though! Now I live in Central Kansas on 7 1/2 acres and get to live out my dream of truely being a farmgirl. It is an old farmstead that was badly neglected and in need of a family that values farm living. We've been here for 3 years now. We have 3 kids, 2 dogs, 5 cats, and 30 chickens. We sell our farm fresh eggs and are planning on adding more chickens later on this summer. We also have a veggie garden which we enlarged this year and are selling some of the produce. Our hope is that we will have plenty to put away for ourselves and also be able to share some with those who want fresh produce. We are also looking forward to adding more livestock to our farm. Cows and milking goats are hopefully in the near future. I custome design and create jewelry and have a small home business doing this. It is called Prairiemist Designs. I am also in the process of learning how to make herbal infusions, salves, bath teas, and soap. I am absolutely hooked! I got to make a batch of soap with a friend and it was soooo wonderful! I still have lots to learn though! Well, I could go on and on, but I won't...I'll save more for extra posts later! I'm so excited to be here and look forward to learning much!

Posted - May 26 2006 : 2:39:05 PM Merryday...wow! That's really cool! Idaho is a magical place, it was difficult to make the change, but we all should "bloom where we are planted". Thanks so much for the warm welcome! owwlady...glad that you could get to the site. Thanks so much for stopping by, I truly do appreciate it! :) FarrarFarmgirl...Thanks for the compliments and the kind welcome! I am enjoying this so very much and am looking forward to getting to know everyone better. For a price list on the jewelry (sort of a guideline, prices vary but not by too much), if you'll go back to my msn page and scroll down to the very bottom of the blogs you can click on view more entries; then scroll down to the Mar. 23 entry entitled "Thankfulness". That has a basic listing for the jewelry. If you ever want anything custom designed, please feel free to contact me through my email. Manhattan isn't that far from us, only about an hour and half from us. We live N of McPherson on an old homestead. It would be wonderful to meet a fellow "farmgirl"! Hope to visit with you all again soon! Cherri

Posted - May 26 2006 : 2:18:23 PM Cherri, Oh, my goodness, I love, love, love your jewelry. That is the kind I wear most often and if I had more like what is on your website, I'd wear it all the time. Do you have a price list posted anywhere? I didn't see anything or a link to go to for ordering or anything like that, did I miss it somewhere? You are blessed with creative talent and have a gift for jewelry making.
Welcome to the Farmgirl forum, it is truly a home away from home. I talk about my friends here as if they were my next door neighbor that I just borrowed sugar from or had lunch with the day before. They are all wonderful ladies to know and learn from, each with their own unique corner of the world to share - and they do so generously.
I look forward to getting to know you more. We have a daughter who lives in Manhattan, KS. I'm not sure where you are located in regard to her, but I'm willing to drive if it means getting an opportunity to meet a farmgirl in person. Wouldn't that be fun?
Blessings on living your dream, planting your roots and growing your family.

Posted - May 26 2006 : 06:02:36 AM Katee sounds like you use to live not too far away from where we are....(McPherson County). Hope that someday you'll get to go back to "farm life" if that is your dream. Jenny, I love your sig line! :) I can relate to that! Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome! I think I'm gonna enjoy this a lot! You all seem to be a great bunch of gals!
Thanks to All! Cherri

Posted - May 25 2006 : 9:38:52 PM Hi Cherri! Welcome! I grew up in south-central Kansas (Sumner county) on a wheat/soybean farm. We had 2 horses, ducks, a turkey and a bunch of Bufforpington chickens. (cats and dogs too) I now live in FL suburbia and am happy here, but miss the "farm life". Sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here! :)

Posted - May 25 2006 : 5:00:58 PM I moved from ID to KS...no stops in between. After my son was born we lived in OK for 9 yrs, and then moved back here. I do love it here! It took awhile as a teenager to get use to the differences, but as an adult, it is a wonderful place! I enjoy it much more being out in the country where there is lots of room to roam!

Posted - May 25 2006 : 09:02:52 AM There was a . at the end of the link...you could try now and see what happens. I did it the first time and it told me it was unavailable also. Made the change and I got there just fine. Oops! :) The jewelry making is addictive, at least for me and my daughters it is. I'm sure you'll have fun.
