Hi all! I've visited you a couple times and decided it's time to sign up.

I'm a SAHM of 3 boys. I've been married to the love of my life for 19 yrs. We live on 12 acres in southern Manitoba Canada. I raise free range laying hens and sell the eggs. I have about 60 right now. We also have 6 pygmy goats.

I love to garden and we raise most of our own meat. We try to be as self sufficient as possible. I also enjoy crafts and sewing in the winter months.

We are in the process of planning to expand our farm business. I started a market garden this past summer. It had few rewards but was a definite learning year.

I've been called a farmgirl by more than one person. I look forward to getting to know you all better!

Margret

Welcome Margret! Somehow I missed your new post but I am so glad you are contributing your ideas and stories and way of life to the forum! You sound like a true girl of the prairie! Manitoba is alot of open farmland and grain fields? I am sure it is very beautiful! I look forward to hearing all about your farm and garden and crafts! Yeah, another scrapbooker! Lets share some ideas because my parents are celebrating their 50th anniversary next summer and I want to make a special scrapbook for them. Talk to you soon! Jenny in Kansas

Margaret, Check out your local thrift store for yarns! I just got 24 balls of wool yarn worsted weight brand new, to warp my loom. They only cost me 50 cents a ball!!!!! Also got 4 balls of very nice cotton yarns for crocheting pot holders for .25 cents each.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome! What a great bunch! Yes, SAHM is stay at home mom.

I'm making my first scrapbook ever. It's a Christmas gift for my parents. It's a collection of photos of the past 50 yrs of their marriage. A little overwhelming when trying to choose pictures! But I'm having fun doing it.

I also like to sew but I don't have a proper sewing area where I can set up and leave it. I have a couple unfinished quilts and lots of fabric stashed for future projects.

I like knitting and crocheting too but I don't seem to get much more than dishclothes made. Yarn is so expensive!

Howdy backatcha, Margret! The more, the merrier around here, we say! Every addition has been a great opportunity for learning and friendship--I hope you will spend time here and contribute your own wisdom and experience.

Eileen, I found a good place for internet abbreviations (and smiley interpretations, too!). Some of them I have never seen used before, but there are many that I have, such as LOL (laughing out loud), DH (dear husband), ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing), IMO (in my opinion), etc. Here is a link, FWIW (for what it's worth!):

There you go! It seems so obvious now! I was one of those. So Clare, what are the other ones?Is there someplace where computer abreviations are interpreted like a dictionary for us? Never too late to learn a new language.
Eileen
P.S. spent thanksgiving teaching my sons girlfriend to crochet. That was fun.

Welcome Margret from Manitoba, Canada! Glad you decided to join up with us! I'm looking forward to learning more about you too. My guess is that SAHM means "stay at home mom", right? The longer we participate here, the more we'll get down the lingo of abbreviations that make communicating easier! Please jump right in with both feet!

Hi Margaret,
Welcome to you!You sound like one of us already!
I am with Kim on the abreviations. I am not a real computer literate and this is the only online forum I have ever been involved with so a lot of the abreviations are greek to me. LOL and ggg and other ones I have seen here just confuse me so I ignore them.
Farm talk we understand and learning curves for sure!
Looking forward to hearing more from you.
What is your current sewing project?etc.?
Eileen

Hi, Margret! Welcome aboard. Sounds like you are going to fit right in. Just curious, what does SAHM mean? I tried to figure it out but I am coming up blank.
