Posted - Apr 17 2006 : 1:00:26 PM I'd like to introduce my new daughter, Cate Rian, born on March 30, as a new farmgirl! :-) I hope that I can impart miles of farmgirl wisdom to my new daughter so that she can grow up with the same farmgirl appreciation for self-sufficiency and accomplishment that the rest of us share!
It would be wonderful to hear from the rest of you from whom you learned your farmgirl wisdom - was it your mother, your grandmother, your community...do you have any stories to share? |

Posted - Apr 17 2006 : 4:14:31 PM Welcome little farmgirl Cate, may you path be sunny and dry.
my wisdom of all things farmy came from my grandma and from my aunt who was the one that bought me my first pony, the ornery thing that he was.

Many wonderful prayers and good wishes to you and your sweet babe.
All the wisdom I had when I first came to Mj's was from my mother in law. She is one of the wisest, kindest, forthright people I know and I am blessed to have her in my life. Now- where have I learned the rest, well I give the farmgirls here the credit. I learn something new everyday from all of you. THANK YOU!

Posted - Apr 17 2006 : 1:12:21 PM Congratulations!!!!
My wisdom (and it ain't much) came from my parents, grandma, sister, extended familiy and family friends. My mother has NEVER enjoyed sewing at all. So, my dad taught me how. He liked working with the sewing machine and he would repair his own clothes whenever they were ripped. Most of the older adults that I grew up around who did canning, made their own foods, gardened, etc have passed away. I am glad that you are starting this baby out right!
