Hello, I just came up on the web site today and I have really enjoyed reading all the posts. Right now I live outside of Houston but within the year we are planning on moving to either Arkansas or Missouri. We want to buy some land (10 to 20 acres) and live in the country and I can't wait. It has been my dream and my husbands dream for the 16 years that we have been married. We also have three children ages 10, 11 and 14. We would like to have a few cattle and some chickens and I really would love a garden. Please be patient with me though because I know that I am going to have lots of questions for everyone. I do have one question. Where is the Mary Janes Farm located? I thought the pictures were beautiful. Thanks

welcome to southeast texas,
i grew up in your neck of the woods , and i still get home sick.
your plans to move to arkansas or missouri sound great and i know you wont regret it.
i have lived on a small farm for 10 years after living in a very large suburb of dallas and it has been great fun.
i think you will love this site, the farmgirls here are so nice and it seems theres a lot of wisdom here.

Catherine,

My goodness it is a small world. I would love to meet you sometime and I would also love to go pick strawberries when you go. I am going to look up your chapter and so I can keep up with what ya'll are doing. I wish that I had known about IHOP yesterday I would have gone because I love their coffee and pancakes lol. Thank you for the big welcome.

Mornin' Cindy!

Hey, gal....you're just down the road....I'm up by the Bush Airport. I know that miles wise we're not that far apart but that construction and traffic can turn a 45 minute drive into 2 hours. But, being so close, we ought to try to meet.

We've started a new Farmgirl Chapter up here and meet once a month. We all just had coffee at IHOP yesterday morning and in a few weeks we'll all go strawberry pickin' at King's Orchard in Magnolia. I can keep you posted on our activities and you can join in anytime! Actually, just visit the Farmgirl Chapter forum and then click on Southern Fried Farmgirls. That's us! We can chat there about our local happenings.

Great to have ya' and I look forward to seein' ya' around the site.

Blessings
Catherine

Hi Cynthia and welcome. I'm a Texas gal as well, I'm in North Texas. I agree, MaryJanes farm is beautiful (at least from pictures) and I would love to get a chance to go there someday. My family and I are officially moving this week to the 40 acre ranch/farm and plan on getting chickens and cattle at some point too. I always have lots of questions too and the ladies here are wonderful so don't feel bad about asking!! Glad you're here!
