I have been reading this forum for quite some time and I finally decided to jump in. My husband and I live in a small town in North Texas. I love to garden, sew, cross stitch, and work on just about anything around the house. At this time I have a full time job but hope to retire in the next couple of years. We have 6 chickens and one really cocky rooster. We have one dog and two cats that think they run this place ( and I guess they do). We love living in the country. I have so many projects that I want to work on but this time of the year most of our time is spent outside. We love to can everything that we raise from our garden.
I have also been in touch with Frannie and she sent the doll and the pocket bunny pattern to me. ( that was so nice of her to do that) I have completed one bunny and I have another one cut out and ready to sew.

Welcome. Living the country life isn't always easy, but it sure can't be beat. Nice to have you on board.
Chicken make great babysitters. My eight year old was a fussy baby. I always had to carry her around. However, I could set her on the porch and let her watch the chickens free range. She just loved it. She still loves the chickens and often carries them around like baby dolls. |

welcome back, sewcross!
i am also in north texas just north of bonham. ive been away from this site for a while cause we were without a computer.
i love crafts, my goats and cats and am a pretty big homebody.
but in spite of staying home so much i never get it all done.
we live in a very small house and i guess i just have too much stuff!
but it all seems important.
have you planted your garden yet?

We are doing raised beds this year too..it will be a change for us..and I am looking forward to it. Ours will be I think about 4X16 ft. Your place sounds wonderful..and I look forward to getting to know you better!!

We have six 4 ft by 20 ft raised beds in our garden. We have found that this works really well for us. We have lived on our land for about 19 years - 14 of which we lived in a very small farm house. We have one son who helped us build a new house about 5 years ago. We absolutly love it. It is nothing fancy but it is just what we needed. We live about 30 miles from the nearest Wal-Mart but we do have a small grocery store here about 2 miles from us. We moved here because we wanted our son to go to a small school. He was in first grade when we moved here. He is 24 now and works about an hour away from us at a college. We wouldn't trade country life!

So glad you joined us. When you get a chance, tell us more about your garden. How long have you lived on your land? How far are you from a grocery store or WalMart? I aspire to country living, but haven't figured out how to do it yet. It sounds wonderful. Welcome!
