Finally time to check in so here I am. I've just left afull time office manager job to start Sub-Teaching K-12. I have 3 kids still at home 17, 12, 9 and one married with our first Gkid. My DH & I love to camp, Travel-trailer style. I'm a rug weaver and love to read. (read 45 books last year) and of course just sitting around catching up with the kids, their friends and our friends. Soup, fresh bread (baked by my DH weekly) and coffee are always on the menu at our house. It's great to be a part of the Farmgirls. I grew up on a farm, 800 acres, which my dad was the farm manager of so it's fun to share and remember the past and watch the future develop.

Hi Carol,and welcome to this site! I am a "waiting to be again, weaver"!I first learned with wool,then mohair,and angora.Won a ribbon at the S.E.Alaska State Fair for a shawl.I really need for you to pack up that trailer and come camping here so you can "relearn me on this 4-harness loom I keep moving around.(my DH would like #1.to see it sold or #2. utilized,preferably a money making scene!).My last project was making rugs out of blue jeans and would like to do that again.Need to do it before the mind starts goin'South!! |

Hi, I'm new to this kind of visiting. I just finished reading Maryjane's book. I tried the sourdough recipe and it really worked well.
I am a widow and I live in a small town in NW Colorado. We lived 0n a cattle ranch for 40 years and raised our 4 kids there. It was a wonderful life. I had a large garden ( 1/4 acre) and canned and froze most of our food. We always milked a cow and ate our own beef.
Just thought I would say hi.

Hey Carol Jean,
I am also from Ohio and love to camp, like you travel trailer style I just can't handle sleeping on the ground anymore, did that for many years, my hubby and I hope to RV it for awhile when he retires in 3 years. He can retire at age 55, we feel very fortunate that we will both be young (I am 8 years younger. We have a daughter that is 18, and I work from home selling on eBay and also sell some rug hooking related items. I live in the beautiful area of Holmes County that has the largest Amish settlement in the US.

That soup, fresh bread and coffee sounds yummy. You're a true hospitality gal. Make sure to check out my post "35 yr old sourdough" in the Kitchen chat section.....information is there about getting some of my sourdough starter.....thought you might like adding it to your bread making.
Have fun and share all your stories.....substitute teaching will sure give you some!

Welcome, we all love it here, so many ideas and good thoughts passed around here. Yes I agree with, Jenny, soup and bread. I read a lot too, never counted how many books, but don't think it comes up to 45.
post a picture of one of your rugs sometime so we can all see it.
