Greetings all! I stumbled in to Mary Jane's site while doing a web search, and ran right out to look for MJ's book! What a treat it is to find a group who value simple things and each other!
I am a farm girl from NW Indiana-land of corn and rural living. I grew up in a small "Mayberry-esque" town and moved to the country over 25 years ago. Our livestock is limited to three cats, a senile-but good hearted mutt, and a comical little corgi (the apple of my eye). I am married to my childhood sweetheart (still my sweetheart) and we have three sons. I teach the two youngest (12,15) here at home. Our oldest (19) lives at home, but travels with his job. I love Jesus and people. I like to read, laugh, sew, and garden, in no particular order. I like fun and try hard to be kind. I am a doll maker, weaver, and a darn good cook. I can glaze a window, raise chickens, and can vegetables, all in the same day! I like antiques and primitive country decorating. I'm a thrift store junkie, and have even been known to pick through other peoples trash on occasion! I like fashion, vintage clothing, and crazy hair. I like loud music and live concerts, but am a terrible dancer. I drink too much coffee and talk a lot. I've gone back to the land once...but returned! LOL I used to have a small gift shop on our farm where we grew & crafted herbs and dried flowers. My latest venture is a new business, where I feature handmade dolls, sewing goodies and other grungy treasures. Life is a balancing act!
So...wayyyyyy enough about me! Let the chatting begin! I very much look forward to "visiting" and getting to know everyone!

...and I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance, even if I'm the only one!

Wow! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'll try to answer the questions you girls asked...
Theresa, Right now I am applying to local art shows. I was also invited to do an annual open house with other area artisans for the holidays. I have a friend who offered to help me set up an online store...and I am getting my e-bay accounts in order. I am sooo pathetic on the computer! lol We moved from our original farm to our new place about 9 years ago. The shop was at our old place. I do so miss my yard there. Mature trees and shrubs, herbs gardens, old roses... The lovely old farm house was around 90 years old but in a bad location, so we built a new house. It is wonderful to have more than one outlet in a room! The new house is a cape cod with a big old front porch and lots of privacy. It's home now, but I sure do miss the shop and chicken coop!
Laura, I like good ol' rock-n-roll the best, but I like a little bit of everything else too! First concert I ever went to was The Rolling Stones...you just don't get much better than that! Yes you MUST get into doll making! It's the best kind of fun! I guess some of us just never got over the love of dollies!
HEY NANCY JO! I did look for MJ's magazine but no one around here seems to carry it. It looks gooood though! I'm lovin' the stitching room too! I'll probably "hang out" there a lot!
Frannie, As soon as I figger out my new camera, I will be happy to share some pictures! I'm not familiar with Nette LaCroix, but you can be sure I'll be lookin' her up! I normally make up my own patterns, but sometimes I just can't resist sewing up a really good one that another doll maker has come up with! I really like a gal named Janena Bartram, just finished one of her dolls! There are some talented ladies (& gents) out there! I'll pop in over at the dollie class, sounds tempting!
Hey Jenny! Hey Bridge (Pssst... where in S.IN?)! Thanks for bein' so dern nice to the new girl!
Yeesh! Told you I talk a lot!
Blessings,
Rhonda
