Hi, ya all from upper middle Tennessee. I quite by accident found this site on a search for chicken forums.

A little info about me....

I'm a 42 year old mom of 2 handsome boys and a beautiful girl. Rickey-24 today, Anthony-19 and Melissa-15. Lordy, they are getting old not me.My oldest son and my daughter are my chicken buddies.

I am an avid American Motors SX/4 collector. I have 5 of them in various need of repair and getting the restorations done slowly. One of them is my dailey driver and totally restored.

I LOVE MY CHICKENS! I have approx 70 chickens! Porcelain D'Uccle's, Mille Fleur D'Uccle's, Bantam Salmon Faverolle's, Serama's, Bantam Cochin's, Bantam Araucana's, as well as some other breeds that I only have one or two of. I am in the Process of importing French Wheaten Marans. I feed my chicken kids all natural food. No processed feeds. My guys and gals get fruits, berries, vegetables, as well as a home mix of seeds, beans, etc and DE.

My husband and I are currently looking for another farm in the surrounding area. We have 30 acres and 5 acres. The 5 acres is where the house is. So the farm is split up. I don't want to live in "the holler". It's too far removed from civilization for my health problems. I have Depro-Provera poisoning. Which has a whole list of terrible symptoms. I have been off the shot for 1 year the 13th of this month...YAY! Things are getting better day by day.

Rick (44 years old)and I have been married for 25 years and together 26 wonderful years. He is a Driver/Manager for a local owned and operated trucking company. He is gone some over the road so thats another reason for looking at other farms not so far removed from easy access to town. Mostly local and home every night. My oldest son is on his own and my other son and daughter help all they can on this place when their dad goes over the road.

My maiden name is Angel so I have been Starwalker all my life.I also have a small buisiness I named fallen Angel fashions...It's a joke with my 85 year old dad.He didn't want me to change my last name when I got married so I told him ...It's ok dad, I'm the fallen Angel.lol...I still use my maiden name with my married name.

It's very nice to meet you all.Lynne

I forgot the 8 cats!

I am very partial to the SX/4's. We owned our first one from 1985 to 1990. Although she was a full time 4x4 1981 model. Thats the crashed one in the pics. My oldest son had named it "Moon Buggy". He thought it looked like that buggy that launched to the moon in the 80's.

I have a deep, deep respect and love for the cars. Rick was one his way home in 1990 from work. A drunk driver hit him head on in his lane at 55 mph. How much more an actual impact creates, force wise. I don't know. Our daughter was 3 month's old and I get that dreaded knock at the door. 2 Police Officers! Right away by their tone of voice I expected them to inform me he had died in the accident.

Finally, they said he's alive but being med flighted to the University hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Not to expect much but he has a good chance. He had some pretty bad injuries to his face and one leg. He's a fighter! So he's ok even now. When the officers were there they informed me the only reason he was alive is that car. It saved his life! So why do I have so many? My kids to drive a terrifically safe car! She saved his life and it's my turn to save them from the crusher.

I find parts all the time. Let me know what you need. Ebay is a good sours and one fella is parting out an SX/4.He will probably have what you are looking for. Email me and I will send my parts contacts to you.

Imagine this....One of those two officers was my cousin Alan! He had to tell the cousin he grew up so close to that her husband was in an accident! We grew up right next door to each other and he lived 2 blocks from our house.

Hi again Lynne!
So happy to hear that you collect Eagles! My husband found one (83) sx/4 about a year ago for $300.00! It's in wonderful shape. It had about 89K miles on it. It had a bad tranny leak where 2 lines were rubbing together. Hubby fixed that and it's run just great ever since! It's a wonderful little car. The 4wd really comes in handy here in Colo. and the air conditioning is the best!!! We named it Schmegle(Gollem/ Lord of the Rings) the Eagel. Do you sell parts? We need a fender flare for the drivers side rear. We bought one off a stationwagon, but it doesnt fit correctly. Ohh, this is so great to hook up with someone that loves Eagles too! Luzy

P.S. Your cars are beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I'll try to take one of Schmegle for you.

I forgot the Depo questions. I took it for 6 years. Not for birth control but for flow control. I had an enlarged, prolapsed uterus with adenomyosis and cysts. For which every doctor I went to says...Your fine...Live with the pain. My General Doctor gave me the Depo as a last ditch effort to save me. She told my hubby after my 6th time in the hospital in one year. "We have to do something. She's bleeding out proteins now". They got very low and I was at 105 lbs at 5'6". For about 4 years I was fine with it. THEN menopause reared it's ugly head...lol... And everything went haywire.

I had the starts of the symtoms before that but really didn't pay it much attention. I just thought I was getting older.
Just some of the bad things were....

I couldn't remember anything. I turn towards the door to go out and get the mail and forget why I was standing there with my hand on the knob. I did these forgetful spells a lot during each day. I'd be driving to the grocery store and forget where I was going.

The terrible headaches were the worst and I am so glad those are only hitting once in a while now!I mean shooting pain on my left side of my head and shoulder. It felt like ripped muscles burning.

Severe Depression!

60 pound weight gain! I had a gastric bypass in 1998! How the heck can a body gain the weight when your stomach only holds 2 ounces!

Bone loss- I have to take the tests every year to keep a check on it. I started losing bone in my face! Eye sockets and around my teeth. I lost my teeth but thankfully it started reversing before I had to have anything done about the sockets and nasal bone.

There are a lot more smaller things...Hairloss, nasty feeling/looking skin, eye sight problems. Since quitting the shot most of the things have cleared up dramatically....All except a couple....I still have the 60 pounds to take off. My OBGYN will not give the shot that I go too now. She says I should start seeing some of the weight drop this year....I praying. She said it would take 2 to 3 years to cleanse. Boy is she right! No detox can help. Only time and she has me drinking gallons of water and fluids. And some bouts of depression. I go nowhere and if I can get out of leaving the house. I do. Also dizzy spells. No one around here lets me get on a chair to change a light bulb.Driving in a car feels like a roller coaster.

Hey, I'm good. I found new friends on here and I can even have fun when my teeth are out. I dressed up as a bum at halloween and left my teeth out! DD thought I was so cute she wants to dress as a bum with me this year! Good news is I know the depo is finally detoxing because my hair is past my butt instead of thin and short.I have good days, medium days and days I don't want to get out of bed. I'm alive, I got a great family and a hubby that doesn't mind I'm toothless. I'm great!

I had a radical hysterectomy a year ago this month. And I don't have to take hormones!

Hi everyone! I do feel soooo welcome! I'll try to answer all the questions. If I don't Smack me!

I have to say...I was born a Yankee with Rebel Blood. My momma is from Paducah Kentucky. One of 7 sisters. My dad is a native of Germany that moved to Detroit in the early 1930's. They moved here when he was 12. Got his American citizenship by 18. Yes, He fought in WWII in the South Pacific. Asiatic Campaign in the US Army! All 3 brothers enlisted.Dad is a highly decorated medic. I am very proud of him! Although, I do wish he would break his silence and teach me German. He won't do it. He says he is American. He will speak American and claims he doesn't know it anymore...Yea right!.At 85, I am giving up hope.

I married my Redneck in 1981. He swept me off my feet! Don't worry I'm allowed to call him that. I have all these years. He has a plate on the front of his truck that says "Redneck"...lol

Luzy- Yep, They are Eagle's! They were only made from 1981 to 1983. In 1983 they made 2,259 SX/4's. I had 6 but a fellow talked me into selling him one of them. All 6 have 258's. Here's a link that shows them.

The Black on Black is completely restored. Not a spot of even dusty rust. I got very lucky in finding the ones I have because they were very well rust proofed. All need minor things fixed except the gray one. She needs her body finished.

My life with chickens started out with 2. My daddy would bring me presents in his Cashmere Coat pocket everyday after work. And believe me...I checked those pockets everyday! One day daddy came home with 2 chickens in those huge pockets! Live chickens in his pockets! Can you believe that! A few month's later he had a pair of baby ducks! We lived in a subdivision in Westland , Michigan!

We moved out of the sub because our chickens and ducks grew to large for the little lot. We moved on 3 acres. He raised a LOT of chickens then and I adopted a Light Brahma I named Buck-Buck. We outgrew that house and property and bought 10 acres! Then came the horses, goats, and bunnies! Buck-Buck lived to 18 years old and still layed eggs on a regular basis! We don't know how old she would have gotten. A huge stray dog got in our barn and killed her. gggrrrrrr

I met Rick in High School up in Michigan. After 3 years we moved down here and again I got chickens. For the last 5 years before June I was chickenless! I felt a yearning and ordered 25 from MMM in May of last year. I will NEVER not have chickens again! They are a part of me as taking a breath.

I forgot to tell you all that daddy brought me a pair of Rabbits in those pockets too. Dottie and Sylvester. They lived approx 12 years.

Now we have...6 horses, 2 mini horses, 1-15 year old goose that has NEVER laid and egg!, 7 dogs, apprx 70 chickens that most have names and are my babies, 2 Rats, And I forgot also the 4 Silkies.

I know, I talk way tooo much! But I got to tell you about one of the mini's...The black and white little stud named Chief! He is a great watchdog for my chickens and is allowed to go all the way around the coops. That darn little thing will stomp the fire out of anything that comes near my coops into a bloody spot! He killed a snake right outside it today! Although he and I have our differences...Like it's not ok to bite my butt for attention!

CountryGirl85-I went to bed at 16 and when I woke up I was 42! It all started for me in a little subdivision lot!

Thank you again everyone. I feel so Welcome here!

Welcome Lynne!
I'd love to have chickens someday. My only chicken experience was with a stray chicken found on a neighbor's doorstep which "migrated" (what can I say? There's nothing better to an animal lover than a stray animal that needs to be taken care of!) to our house. We had no idea where it came from since we live in a subdivision! After much pleading with my mother, the chicken had to go. We brought her (not sure if it was really a her, but we assumed!) to the living history museum/farm. That was about 5 years ago and I've loved chickens ever since! Still haven't convinced my mom that a chicken coop in the backyard is a good idea... Kids! They sure do grow up fast! And I'm only saying that because I'm one of "them." I don't know how it happened, but I woke up one day and I was 20 years old! I'm glad to hear things are getting better day by day. I've hear bad things about the Depro-Provera shot. Why is it that the things that are supposed to make life easier/better/more convenient often make things worse? Just a thought! But I've rambled on long enough! Welcome and good luck on your farm hunt!

Much love,
Laura
