Hello. I'm new to the forum. I have taken time to look and read posts and so far I love it!

I live in PA with my husband and 3 children. We just built a small barn and look forward to getting a fence and animals this spring. Hopefully chickens and goats.

I "retired" myself from nursing last year and am enjoying homesteading. I homeschool our children. I enjoy quilting, gardening, canning, and sewing, along with many other craft projects I have started over the years!

I look forward to learning from all you farmgirls!

Jill

Hi Jill,
I homeschool also, and we have goats(meat), and chickens, not to mention other animals. You have found your niche. I love your Farmgirl Name, it's so cute.

Welcome also Toni and Kim.

Hello, PA girls! I'm from Duncannon and work in Harrisburg - welcome to the farm, you will love it!

Toni, Laundry soap is always a hot topic on here, you will find lots of info in different threads, but basically it is just equal parts of Borax, Washing Soda, and grated soap like Fels Naptha, or use the Boraxo hand soap in place of the grated soap. You can use baking soda in as well if you have hard water. I use equal parts of washing soda and borax in my dishwasher, too, but be sure to use vinegar in the dishwasher rinse dispenser with it. Ask questions here, too, everyone is so helpful - we are all here to share ideas and help one another.

Hello Everyone,
I am new person too!! I signed in after I received my latest magazine. I started
my mother sour dough and got on to see if anyone had finished any bread yet. Mine
has 4 days to go. Also where do I find the recipe for the soap powder? I put in a
search but didn't turn anything up. Maybe I did something wrong. Hope to make some
new friends.
Have a great weekend everyone!! Toni

Welcome! I love this forum.
I am from Scranton, PA. I lived on a farm as a child but for now I'm a city chick. I do lots of crafts and am learning and inspired to do more re-use, re-purpose and how to be frugal. The old fashioned values about farmgirls is one thing that draws me.
I am sure you will love it here with us.

Welcome from a fellow Pennsylvania farmgirl. We are in southern Pa near the Maryland line. We have a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats that we LOVE. We can't wait till our spring babies arrive so we have some fresh milk. We don't have any does in milk right now :-(
Glad you found us! Look forward to getting to know you better!!
(I was homeschooled and hope to homeschool my three little ones!)
