Posted - Nov 25 2008 : 05:05:39 AM Hey, Heather! Look down South and you'll see me waving! We have cattle, but no milkers, and I'm looking hard for a Jersey. Rumor has it there are some South of us, but I haven't found her yet. We also have chickens, but DH has threatened me with moving me to the chicken house if I even THINK about getting woolies! And so what do you think I really want????? Hey! I can't help it. I'm a weaver and want to learn to spin!!!!

Posted - Nov 24 2008 : 9:01:49 PM Welcome Heather, I'm not in MO but in northern Idaho. I have cattle, but not a single milk cow. My husband won't let me get one. His parents ran 2 dairies when they were first married then when they moved to this property from OR they had a dairy also. My husband remembers never getting to go anywhere farther than 1/2 day out so they could be back in time to milk again. I would love to have a milk cow, make my own butter and cheese, oh maybe someday.

Posted - Nov 24 2008 : 3:36:53 PM Hi Karen and Heather! I'm closer to you, Karen, than to Higginsville. I'm about 90 miles south of St. Louis, between Perryville (on I55) and Marble Hill, Missouri.
We also live in the country, but so far we only have my dh's "girls" -- the chickens and dogs.
Some people search for happiness; others create it.

Posted - Nov 24 2008 : 11:35:32 AM Hi, Heather! I'm a farmgirl from Missouri too. And I know where Higginsville is - even though it's on the other side of the state from where I am now. One of my friends from college days hailed from there.
It sounds like a wonderful life you're living on the farm. I look forward to hearing more about it and getting to know you better. You're going to love it here!
God bless - Karen ~ Chickherder & Farmgirl Sister #311 |
