Hi All,

I am a city/suburb girl by birth and raising until a year ago. I am 42, married 20 years and we have two children, 14 yos and 13 yod. My husband served 20 years in the Navy. We moved to a rural part of Maryland in June 2007. At first I thought isolated now I am thinking secluded and beautiful.

I have always crafted and I love to cook. I have had veggie gardens at a couple of our past houses. Now that we are fairly settled into our home I plan to do a lot: nice big veggie garden for fresh and preserved veggies and berries, a small orchard, and I really, really would like to have chickens. Maybe goats or sheep down the road. After moving so many times it is really nice to settle into one place.

I can't tell where this desire for a simpler, more self-reliant life is coming from, but I am very glad to have found this place. I am enjoying reading posts immensely. I look forward to learning and sharing.

We are in Howard County, near Clarksville. If you woudl travel east on I-70 you would go to exit 88, Rt 32, and go south about 8 miles. We are proabably about an hour from you.

Welcome to the forum Debbie! My husband and I have moved quite a bit just from rental to rental. Luckily we have only lived in 4 towns our whole life, we too are thinking we finally found our new hometown, but we are still looking for property. Your plans for your property sound great! I can't wait to hear more!
