Hello All...

My name is Brenda and I currently live in Upton, Kentucky but also own a small piece of some very remote and secluded woods in the Metcalfe County area. It has a small cabin (or shack by some standards) and nothing else but trees, trees and more trees. I spend as much time there as possible. My dream is to be "Off Grid".

May be a little crazy at my age, I just turned 56 and am single. I have one daughter who lives with me (or maybe I live with her) in Upton. ( I say that because, I bought this property and she moved down from Ohio in 1994, and couple years ago I signed the deed over to her)

I am originally from Ohio as well and have been in the Wonderful Bluegrass State (? Commonwealth) since 1989. My intentions were to move on to Texas, but the hills and hollers of Kentucky just keep calling me here.

I have done a bit of farming here on the 3 acres, raised pigs, baby (bottle calves) had chickens and ducks and still have a couple horses, rabbit, dogs and cats. I garden and can. I have given up on a totally self sufficient life style...for a more fun and less work attitude toward my goal and life style. I purchase what I do not provide for my self from other like minded individuals.

I consider my self a "Hobby Farmer".

Greetings,
Brenda (aka Lodi...still stuck in Limbo)

Hi Brenda,

Welcome to the forum! Everyone here is so quick to make you feel at home. I've always wanted to see Kentucky, and your little cabin sounds wonderful We are slowly but surely moving towards off grid as well, good luck with that and I hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome Lodi! Were not to far from each other, I don't think. I live in Scottsville, KY. That's close to Franklin, Glasgow, Bowling Green, and Tompkinsville if you are familiar with any of those. I love it here b/c it's such a small town. Glad to hear there is another farmgirl out there so close!

Best farm wishes

Brenda,
Didnt get to talk to you much at the gathering but so glad you joined us. I to dream of living "off grid" . nothing fancy, just a simple farm house or small cabin. I just want to be out, way out. Love the mountains of KY.
