Hello everyone! I just joined (Farmgirl Sister #360) and thought I would start right out here to introduce myself!

My name is Melissa, Missy, Miss - I live actually on a road with the address "Fennville" but around the corner the cute town of "Glenn".

I'm married (2 years Monday, 9/29). I'm 40 (just turned in August)...and have started all over again with marriage, kids and a farm! (couldn't be happier!)

For the most part I'm a stay at home mom but I do pick up cleaning jobs etc. when I can. I'd like to start my own country business some day...right now they're still dreams being created! My kids are 21 (newly married son living in Ludington with his lovely bride) and my daughter, 16 - new driver and rarely home! We also have my husbands son, 14 - cross country superstar and his 2 daughters, 10 and 12 - both in dance, soccer & softball!

We live on 20 acres with 7 horses (had to have enough for everyone!), cows, chickens, bunnies, pygmy goats, cats, kitties and my faithful dog! We do all of our own hay, vegetable gardens and I'm still working on the flower gardens!

I love all kinds of decorating and crafts! Everything from flowers for weddings, setting up special events, cooking for events, cross-stitch, rag rugs, aprons (still working on the sewing but I'm not giving up yet!), scrapbooking, canning...the list goes on, usually if I see something I have to at least try it!

Another favorite hobby of mine is my animals! I'm looking forward to painting & wallpapering my hen house (a used camper that was on it's last leg that I'm trying to "save" for my chicks!) this fall and as the weather cools we love horse camping!

Well, I see I've already been quite chatty, so for now I better go and look forward to chatting with all of you!

Hi all! I'm not sure how to reply so let me know if I'm doing this wrong! I have received such a warm welcome from all of you and hope to hear more! To Katie, who grew up in this area and went to Hamilton...my daughter is dating a boy from Hamilton and we ride horses/camp at Silver Creek Horse Camp, maybe you know where it's at? I grew up in Holland, my parents moved to Fennville...Hutchins Lake area and I moved here (with my kids and horses after meeting my husband!)...he lived here.

I don't have many "spare minutes" these days...some days I like to sit on the swing and watch the "hay grow" but most days...it's just too busy around here!

I'd like to reply to all of you and say thank you for the warm welcome!

Hey welcome. Wow! What a crew on 20 acres. I grew up over your way too! Otsego. Used to go to Fennville quite often in the fall for apples and what-not. Welcome to the forum! Spent a fair amount of time bouncing around the woods of Allegan County too with my family. This is a great place. You should love it.

Melissa -- I am thrilled to meet someone from Fenville/Glenn! I grew up sort of in that area -- went to Hamilton High School, which is in Allegan County, on M-40. We have family in the Holland area and always pass through your area. We often stop at Crane's for pie and cider.

Are you from the area originally? How did you decide on F/Glenn?

Looking forward to your contributions to this big quilttop of girls!
