My name is Tracy. Since my husband is retiring from the Cdn military after 8 years we are seeking out the good life on a small acreage in Prince Edward Island. We've been waiting for about two years now and plan to move next August so we have less than a year to go. YEAH!

We have two kids that we currently homeschool. I've already been reading many posts and have found a plethora of info here. Love it!

Thanks for the welcome,

We chose PEI because of property prices, (that's why we started looking there) but we also like the progressive attitudes toward waste management (their recycle, compost and waste diversion policies are top notch...better than here in Ontario). They are also pretty progressive when it comes to energy harvesting...using wind turbines to produce energy. We like the atmosphere there...even the two big cities are laughably small compared to Toronto or Vancouver and that's why we like it...but we can still get all we need in the cities. Plus it is beautiful...and a huge tourist draw and we wanted to perhaps purchase some cottages to rent out in the summer season.

Plus I am a huge LM Montgomery fan and have dreamed about living there since I was a little girl. My husband was hooked as well when we vacationed there last year and and hoping to buy a place mortgage free. kind of a semi-retirement plan and we're bearly out of our 20s. We just don't want the rat-race anymore. We have our chance and we're taking it.

Hi! Tracy,

Welcome to the group. We are homeschoolers also. How nice that you will be living on Prince Edward Island. It's so beautiful. I am fairly new here also. I can hardly keep up with all the information here.
