...59 year old hen that I am! But I am a newbie to Mary Jane's Farm & to this forum. What a great find for me!

My husband & I bought 10 acres in Northern California about 12 years ago. We would visit it every weekend and even campout as often as possible. Then, about 4 years ago, after almost selling the land because we couldn't afford to build the home we had designed, we found a modular home and had it built on the property. We have happily been adapting to country life ever since!

Mind you, we might have been smarter to do this earlier in our lives, but we are lovin' it just the same. I look forward to learning from you all and contributing where I can.

Nice to meet you, Chris

Kim! I just moved to WA from Boise! I thought I was the only farmgirl from that part of ID on the forum. How's the weather in Nampa today? ;)

Welcome Chris. I too am from Ca, however now in Idaho. We moved here 3.5 yrs ago, an have no regrets. Lucky you for being able to afford ANY land in Ca, especially Newcastle. Its beautiful there, my dad lives in Roseville, just down the road from you. We also bought a 'farmette' late in life, I am 47, hubby is 49.

Looking forward to hearing about farming in Newcastle.....

My goodness, what a welcome! I am truly happy to meet you all. I can see I'm going to love it here.

To answer Alee's question, we have a vegetable garden, and 40 almond trees. (Crows & squirrels get more almonds than we do.) As for critters, we have a old dog and I want to build a coop and have chickens. My dream is to grow a whole field of lavender in our bottom pasture.

I'm off to really explore the rest of the forum...

Thanks again for the wonderful welcome! Chris
