Posted - Aug 29 2008 : 10:04:27 PM This is my last post. My feelings aren't hurt, I just don't want to participate any longer. This week was the 88th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote. I thought that was a reason for celebration! I thought a woman VP was a reason to celebrate...no matter whether you are a Dem or GOP. It's exciting times! Both parties are making history! I thought this forum was open for women to talk to women. I guess I thought talk about just anything, really. I had no idea that one woman couldn't express herself without getting shut down by other women. I thought this was a sisterhood. I see now it's not. It's just the same old thing. Censorship and an unwillingness to be open to an idea that is not your own. Who needs that? I don't want to live in that world. |

Posted - Sep 02 2008 : 5:34:36 PM Glory, I too am relatively new to this forum and didn't catch the post to which you were refurring. However, I want to personally thank you for being so brave and sticking your neck out in the "miff tree." It takes alot of courage to voice differing opinions-even when we are encouraged to share with others. It can be a little risky and hopefully, you have discovered that you are among friends-people who care and truly want you to share. It takes a big, humble person to admit when they've "pouty!"
Thanks again and I hope to catch more of your posts in the future! Bonnie Farmgirl Sister #333 |

Posted - Aug 31 2008 : 5:36:24 PM Yeah! Good news that you are staying with us. I hope that this will be the new beginning of a long and wonderful time of being here, concentrating on the fellowship and encouragement to be had here. It took great courage to say your feelings and then to say you were sorry and I respect you so much for that...so go get your apron, while we get ours...Debbie

Posted - Aug 31 2008 : 2:41:08 PM Well, maybe I was being a little pouty! How unattractive of me...My Dad is a minister, and they call it at his church "being up the miff tree". I suppose I was perched on the top branch! I take back my hasty remarks and am filled with contrition. My heartfelt thanks to the ones of you that took the time to send me emails...it really meant a lot. And especially the last one I received. It touched my heart. I have also gone and read the new member tips, and vow to never dicuss politics or religion on this forum. (did I hear a sign of relief?) And also make a solemn vow to try and avoid any further poutiness at all costs! ~Blessings all around~ |

Posted - Aug 30 2008 : 5:34:03 PM Glory, please don't leave. This is a place I have always felt very comfortable in. We've always been very loving here and I love it. It's a shame that you feel you must leave as I have never felt that way. Don't let a couple of opinions of others keep you from having a wonderful time here and learning so many wonderful things. I think your post was great and _I feel_ should be no reason to quiet you. I do think this is a sisterhood and I am sorry others were so abrupt with you and you being new ...I can understand where you're coming from. Give it another shot, okay?

Posted - Aug 30 2008 : 4:48:55 PM Glory, I am so sorry for what ever has happened. I do honestly hope you will stay and get to know more of the ladies. I can't comment on what happened because I don't know, but speaking for myself I would like to get to know you better! Sometime there are topics that are a little sensitive, but I think we all need to respect each others opinions and realize that we can't possibly agree on everything. I personally am excited too! I do hope you will stay! Monica Farmgirls Rule!

Posted - Aug 30 2008 : 10:26:24 AM I haven't read your posts on politics nor gotten to know you yet, Glory, but if you feel you don't want to participate any longer, that is the beauty of a forum. You can join and unjoin and do what's best for you. Sorry I missed your posts...I can't keep up with them all so just do my fave's and skip the rest. Best wishes on your journey and if it leads you back here, looking forward to it! Jami in WA

Posted - Aug 30 2008 : 07:21:24 AM In "Forum Decorum" we are urged to "be cautious" when posting so called "hot-topics" like politics and religion. I, for one feel that every post about the VP nominee was cautious and appropriate. What I read was more support for a woman getting the nomination than any hot-button political statements. I think there have been other postings over the years that have escalated to something just short of ugly; I'm sure that's why this one was being reminded to be careful. As a mom, I know I have , at times, reprimanded my children too harshly for a minor thing, or something they didn't even know was not appropriate... Maybe take it as that. We all get hurt feelings from time to time, it's the way of the world. Glory, there is a BIG difference between censorship and staying within the comfort level of the group you have joined.I see that your post has been locked and I'm sure that's to keep the rest of us from truning this into something we'd regret. You can perceive that as censorship, or as keeping peace... We are ALL being told to cool our jets on this. We can all learn from this. Stick around a while. I think you'll be glad you did. Sharon

Posted - Aug 30 2008 : 07:21:12 AM glory, i wish that you would stay here on the site. it is a wonderful place and the exchange of wisdom and ideas is wonderful here. i do have the feeling that this is not the forum for the passionate exchange of political ideas, or to discuss heartfelt feelings of spirituality. i come here to network with other women and find that those of us with similar feelings seem to gravitate to one another, but there does seem to be an attempt here not to exclude of discount the validity of women who hold different views. for that reason it does seem that those two subjects politics and religion are not discussed here. i agree with that, and when i want to vent my beliefs or feelings on these subjects i go to other forums. i do think there could be women here that might want to discuss these subjects but i have been here a while and it seems that in a pretty polite way, folks have just stayed away from those topics. so i wish that you would remain here and contribute in what ever way you like, but just understand that everyone may not be eager to post about every topic.
