Posted - Aug 27 2008 : 10:27:52 AM Hello, My name is Kris. I live in N. Ga. at the foot of Lookout and Pigeon Mts., the most beautiful place on earth! We have a little over 3 acres and every bit is being used for something or someone. I have 2 huge gardens that I take to a farmer's market not far from here and also can, freeze and dry all the rest. We raise chickens, ducks, guineas, dairy goats, and 2 red angus calves who are getting all the milk right now. Also sheep for meat. I try to grow and raise all we eat. My husband drives atruck so is only home a few times a month, so I do most everything that needs to be done unless it's a major problem like fixing a tiller or mower. I am not a mechanic. Anyway, I love my life most of the time until a goat gets out or a fence breaks or it floods and theres mud all over the place. Other than that, it's great. I'm glad I finally found a place where there are other people like me out there. Is there anyone near here? Let me know! Bye for now. Kris |

Posted - Sep 08 2008 : 3:50:07 PM Really, I go to Stockdales too, I mostly get my seed at the Soddy Daisy feed and seed or the Barn Owl. It's so cool you found this site, I like Harrison, but we are building in Apison, we bought 10 acres. I have a Horse, yorkie, choc. lab, 3 kids and plan on getting some chickens, right now the aroma of salsa consumes my kitchen as I am canning this evening. We may have to meet the next time you are out this way!

Posted - Sep 08 2008 : 09:32:59 AM Hi Kris - hubby and I go to North Carolina and north Georgia each fall. We go to a great fresh market in the Dillard, Clayton area, and I just love getting tomatoes, corn, honey, and great food. We stay in Otto, and drive the area there along the border bewteen the two states. It is so beautiful!!!! We have been to Lookout many times over the years, and I mean over 30 or more years. It is one of our favorite places.
Welcome!

Kelly, I am in Harrison quite a bit. I go to Stockdale's For animal feed sometimes. Have you ever been there? They have tons of other things there as well. Do you have critters?
Hope everyone has a great day!!! |
