A big southern welcome from one of the Louisiana farmgirls! And Mary, it's not the size of your farm but the size of your farmgirl heart that counts! So glad you could join us!

Hi Mary,

Welcome from Texas! I too used to live in Rochester...the first two years of my life. :O) So of course I don't remember. :O) I grew up in Texas and every summer we would take a trip to upstate NY to visit my grandmother and relatives. My dad grew up in Warsaw, NY, a small town outside Buffalo. I still have alot of family living in the upstate area. Glad you found us!

Thanks for the wonderful welcome from all of you. I live in henrietta for all of you in Rochester. I don't have much of a backyard. just your standard square lot. But we have a high fence so I pretend it's the country. i have one more daughter to move out and then we will be moving to the real country. I can't wait. I have 3 kids, two are grown and married and one at home. 5 grands, 2 dogs and my hubby. I started reading maryjane's magazines over the summer and I can't get enough. I have looked for the books and can't find them as of yet. they would make for great winter reading. I look forward to getting to know all of you. thanks again for the warm welcome. Mary

Karin, I'm leaving for a week at Allegany State Park on Sunday. I've actually never spent much time west of the park, so I'm hoping to check it out this year. I just learned that part of my family is from the Villenova/Cherry Creek area, and I'm hoping that their old farmhouse is still standing.

My mom is a native of Jamestown, New York! I was just back there two years ago, visiting all of the places we went to when I was a kid visiting my grandparents. I was there at the beginning of October and although the colors weren't at their peak, it was still so gorgeous!!! There's so much beautiful farmland around Jamestown, and Chataqua Lake... Sigh. Wish I could go back for another visit.

Hi Mary & welcome! I used to live in Rochester long ago when my husband was in grad school at U of R. I mostly liked it but the winters were sometimes a bit much! Pretty countryside, though. We just got back from the 1000 Islands - nice and green this year.

I live in Rochester too! Yay, now there's two of us! How much of a backyard do you have, and what do you do with it?

Hi Mary,

Nice to meet you. I have been to upstate NY, nothing like I thought it would be as I only pictured NY the city, but I think you hear that all the time. I have two friends still there, one in Ransomville and the other in Messina.
