Posted - Aug 08 2008 : 11:05:14 AM Newbie on the forum, but have been reading and following Mary Janes books and magazines for several years now. I grew up in Alaska and have many fond memories of my grandmothers and all their cookin' and advice. :-)
I am the mother of 7 kiddoes and have raised them all in the bush of Alaska. Been cooking w/ master mix for 25 years and subsistance hunting and fishing just the same. I havent had a garden for a few years now as we moved to a small town and we actually live on a rock. But when I did, it was a beautiful 50 by 50 garden I had to fend the moose out of. Now, I am trying to pull together a sprout farm in a small galley kitchen. I am so excited about the FarmGirl Sisterhood and Merit badges. Plan on joining up and me and my girls gettin' to it! Hoping to find other Alaska Farm girls out here. :-)

Wow! What a beautiful part of the country that you get to call Home! Do you have enough of a yard to build some raised beds and plant a garden that way?
