Posted - Jul 13 2008 : 10:00:47 AM I've been lurking around here a few months now and decided to say hello! I live in upstate SC on a 20 acre farm we share with family. We have horses, dogs, a rabbit and several not so tame critters that lurk in the shadows. I love the simple country life and all that comes with it, good and bad. I hope to have some chickens soon. I work full-time. But wish I could work full-time here on the farm. I have a blog I update regularly about the farm, family, local events and our sometimes comical adventures on and off the farm. i'm looking forward to getting to know you and making friends across this great country of ours.

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 7:39:44 PM You guys have made me feel so welcome. Thank you!
Mburns: If I'm not mistake Sumter is about 2.5 hours from me. The state parks have camping year round. Not sure about the others, I will check as soon as I get time. You can go online and check out the state park sites and also reserve your spots online. Check out... www.southcarolinaparks.reserveamerica.com
handyam: My nails used to be paper thin also. I could fold them backward and they wouldn't break. Now they are strong. I don't know what I do different. My Mother in law used to say she thought digging in the dirt made them strong. Not sure about that. But I have noticed that polish will make them weaker. I use remover with vitamin E and it seems to help.
Eskimobirdlady: I had a funny experience with chickens when I was a child, you can read about it on my site. Look for "Lesson Learned".

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 11:49:16 AM Welcome Becky from south central Kentucky. I love the name of your blog. I enjoyed the part about your fingernails. I had the same problem. I don't bite them anymore, but they are very weak. I have tried nail hardeners, vitamins, oils, etc. No luck. Did you have that problem?

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 11:26:14 AM My son is being transferred to So Carolina around Sumter this fall with the AF. Would like to know about So Carolina as we will probably travel there often. Do you happen to know if you can camp in the winter months there? Your farm sounds really neat. |
