Thanks for the welcome Kate, Karen & Sue.
I love hearing from all of you, Salkum is 9 miles south of Chehalis & 9 miles West of Mossyrock on Hwy 12 foothills of the Cascades. Very small town. Evergreens, hay fields & lots of pastures with cows, horses & goats. I commute to Tacoma, love the drive in the country everyday.
ofcourse the drive from Lacey park & ride is the best part. I am going home.

Welcome Grace and other newbies! We're just up the road from you, near Mt. Rainier. Looks like there are quite a few Washington Farmgirls here, and some near you, too. I think you aren't alone anymore!

Hi Karen, I know where Waucanda is! Have driven through it many times. I even have been to Chesaw and we had a beer and saw all the dollar bills plaster at the bar! I ended there when I got lost exploring the area before we moved to Colville. We rented a little cabin on top of a ridge outside Republic before we settle here.Love our little "Forgotten Corner" of Washington. JoAnn

Jacqueline, your farm sounds wonderful. We are just up the road from you.
My husband & I both lived on small family farms growing up. We married 7 yrs ago.
We both wanted to get some land & be able to grew our own food. It was our dream.
It is not as much land as we wanted, our out away from the towns, but we got our little +1 acre farm last yr.
We are loving it. In time will get maybe a little more land.

Hi Ladies,
I'm in SW Washington about 35 minutes NE of Portland OR. We have a ten acre biodynamic farm with an additional leased 7 acres that we hay and rotate our cows onto. When y'all get together, keep me posted. If I can get away I'd love to meet up.

We teach farm classes for people who are new to sustainable topics and want to learn the short version of beekeeping, backyard chickens, raised bed gardens, worm bins and composting, preserving food and cooking from what you grow. It sounds daunting when I start listing it all but it's really just daily life here. If any of you gals would like to come stay on the farm for awhile, have a look at our website
www.FriendlyHaven.com (the farm)
www.FriendlyHaven.com/whatsnew.html (farm stays)

Today we spent most of the day helping our farm interns (a nice young couple from Italy and NY) put up our 26' tall teepee where they'll stay this summer while they're helping out. Glorious weather, everything in our garden and pastures is bursting with life right now.

I'd like to know when you're getting together and tag along. I'm sister #200.

warmly,
Jacqueline

Sissy hello to you!
Your right we are just down the road. My husband is from Oregon, we do make it down your way once in awhile. You will have to send me your website. Would love to see what goodies you have. I love to quilt too. Love to sew. Right now not much time in sewing, working, then doing the things around here. Just not much time to relax. But oneday it would be nice to met up. Thank you for the warm welcome.
Stay cool, hear it is going to be a hot weekend. Enjoy.
Grace
