Hello, Everyone! I've been reading through other new members' threads and this looks like a great place to be! Lived on a farm for 8 1/2 years after retiring with my husband. Couldn't WAIT to leave it for the city! After being in the city for a year, can't WAIT to go back!! IS the grass always greener?? Seriously, though, there's something about the land that calls us back (Indiana). Looking forward to meeting other farmgirls! |

Posted - Jun 14 2008 : 3:30:29 PM Renee: there was an alpaca farm not terribly far from where we used to live. They are the loveliest creatures!!! Aunt Jenny (and others): I didn't realize how good the "boonies" were--until I left!! I do like the idea of wishing everyone "greener grass", too!! Off for ten days of farm life--temporarily until it can, once again, become permanent! |

Posted - Jun 14 2008 : 1:43:00 PM Welcome Carol!! I have never lived in a big city..but have lived in bigger places than the very small town my little farmette is in now....the smaller the better for me. I like the boonies! You will love it here...I learn stuff from these gals every day..and a better "support group" isn't to be found!!

Posted - Jun 14 2008 : 1:00:06 PM I had always lived in town or cities until I "bought the farm" about 5 1/2 years now. Now I cannot imagine living in the "gated community" I moved from. My house was only about 50 feet from neighbors on either side...I could hear their music and raised voices...Now I have "close neighbors" a quarter mile away who are only a telephone call away but the only thing I hear...crickets, bull frogs, tree frogs, birds of every kind, the occasional bleeeeet from a sheep, or the hum of an alpaca...and these are the only sounds I ever want to hear from home. It is "the greener grass" on the other side of the fence.
Wishing you all "greener grass" Renee

Posted - Jun 14 2008 : 02:23:40 AM Thank you so much, everyone, for your warm welcome!!! I think I'm going to like it here!! But we'll be back "home" in Indiana for 10 days starting tomorrow. Would you believe we have no internet access where we're going or TV!!!??? We'll have both when we move back permanently but, since we're there on and off for now, it hasn't been worth connecting either yet. Will miss hanging out here, though. This looks like a really good place to be. |

Posted - Jun 14 2008 : 01:35:56 AM Hi Carol, The quiet of the country does sound nice to this girl. Live outside of the city limits, kinda noisy, but home it is. So glad that you are here. Carol Sue

Posted - Jun 13 2008 : 6:36:40 PM Carol, Welcome. Sometimes I have an itch to move to town--closer to everything. Then I think, "what is wrong with me!!!" I spend the night at my parents' house occasionally. They live in town. I can hardly sleep with all the traffic noise, dogs barking, etc. I don't know if I would ever adapt to "town life" or not. There's no place like the nice, quiet, farm.

It's so nice to meet you. I'm still pretty new here too, but I'm already addicted to this forum. The gals here are great! You couldn't ask for a better bunch to hang out with.
