I'm new to actually talking in the forum, but have been reading for years. I live in Manhattan, KS with my backyard farm. I have 11 chickens and a garden. My husband is an ecologist at the Konza Prairie and I'm at home with my 14mo son, and 13mo niece. I also this season starting selling veggies and homemade beauty products(lotions, lip balms, etc) at the farmers' market.

I have been so exicted about the farm and dreaming about my own since we visited farm fair 2006 while my husband was studying salmon near Syringa,Idaho.

thanks for letting me say hi.

Hey Christy! It is so good to see another Kansas girl here! (I, too, have lurked for a while...but couldn't stay quiet any longer.) The Konza is beautiful--your DH is a lucky guy!!

Welcome Christy! I was like you and read here quite a while before I jumped in. Are you anywhere near Iola, KS? I have a dear friend who lives there.

Hi Christy! Welcome to to "talking" on the forum :)..I'm from the northern part of Kentucky.

Is Manhattan near Fort Riley, KS? That's where my father trained in WWII. Never been myself, but my nanny's farm was in Kiowa, KS. Don't remember where that is either...but it sure was flat.

Sounds like a wonderful life you lead--your husband's job sounds really interesting, too.
