Hi! My name is Toni. I live in the Willamette Vally region of Oregon. My husband and I live on 11 acres. We have 3 sons and a daughter. The boys are off to college and my baby girl is a senior in high school. Gosh, where did the time go!!! Ours is not a working farm, per se, altho we do have a few farm animals. I am at a point where I am able to focus on the next phase of my life. A friend of mine, Julia (a.k.a. BlueApple), introduced me to the forum thinking I might like it. I love it! Thank you, Julia! I have done a bit of exploring and this forum is wonderful. There are so many positive vibes, much support and soooooo much wonderful information! I love playing in the dirt. We do a little bit of veggie gardening (which we will be increasing as time goes on) but my main love right now is landscaping and tree planting. I am on a quest right now to surround my little world with trees!!! LOL! I am so wanting to simplify my life, to stop and smell the roses. I am looking forward to getting to know you and learning from you!

Toni -

Welcome, I am fairly new to the connection also. I too am from Oregon. I live in Portland but grew up in Woodburn in the Willamette Valley on a blueberry farm.

I'm sure you will enjoy all of the wonderful information and kinship found here on this sight.

Diane: PIMP! Never mind!!!!! I know this isn't funny...... and I am sorry in advance, but I had to laugh! Okay....... Back to trees...... What kind of trees would block out this kind of eyesore? I HAVE NO IDEA! There! How's that for help? Just be assured I feel for ya!

Toni.....But my husband IS THE SHERIFF!! That makes more problems than it solves, believe you me !
Lacyacres Posted - Oct 03 2005 : 5:16:16 PM
LOL! Diane, I can tell already we are destined to meet!!!! LOL! Too many coincidences! Thankfully, my eyesore is just a visual thing. A boat repair man bought the property next to us and when I look out my kitchen window, I get to gaze upon lots of boats! Guess he thinks everyone loves boats! NOT! I know if I were in your shoes, tho, I would have the Sherriff's Dept on my speed dial! I just don't understand why people don't have more respect for their neighbors. They seem to think that they are *out in the country* and can do whatever they want! UGH! Oh, well, hang in there!

Gee Toni..the coincidences just keep growing..I have an "eyesore" on the next acreage too what a coincidence. My eyesore has loud drunken parties with fights, 10 cars in disrepair, police coming often, etc etc, know any trees that can block all that out?Ps my husbands name is..Tony

Diane.... the contractor from hell.... ROFL! Well, my babies will be a long time a'growin'. They will be *working trees*, to be planted out on our property line to eventually hide the *eyesore* that moved onto the property next to us. Like I said, it will take a while, but just knowing they are in place makes me feel better. We have the big firs at the back of the property too, but I need something along the sides also. It's something I should've started years ago, but was too busy raising kids and living life.

WOW, Toni, you are WAY more obsessive than me..but then the back 2 acres of my little 3 acres is forested in mature fir trees..I have only the front acre which the contractor from hell cleared for me as a "gift"..what a guy.
I too am in the "next" phase of my life, with my 3 girls out on their own (some for the second time I might say), in fact I have just recently acquired the biggest bedroom in our home for MY OWN
sewing studio..it is so wonderful!
I do envy you living in the Willamette Valley..that would be my dream place if given a choice...I love it here on our peninsula, being so close to the water is lovely, but we have VERY sandy soil that is my constant foe for growing anything!Compost compost compost is all I spread around here..well and love too..anyway Nice to have you Oregon neighbor!

Thanks, Julia! I am already enjoying the forum, albeit a bit overwhelming right now, but I am sure in time I will be able to navigate like a True Blue Farmgirl! LOL! Thanks for steering me this way!

Waving back at you, Diane! Thanks! Yes, *obsessive tree planter* describes me to a *T* also! LOL! I can't go to a nursery without bringing something home!!! Right now I have 80 - 90 *babies* in a *nursery*. When they are big enough, they are going out there on the property line!

Thanks for the welcome!
