Posted - May 22 2008 : 7:53:38 PM I didn't realize how long it has been since posting. I feel rather out of the loop. I had the Winter doldrums for an extra long time this year. I just didn't feel "in the mood" to do anything.
Last August I had to close my second hand shop. Our downtown area just doesn't get the traffic to support retail any longer. It was very sad. I felt like a failure. Other business owners were telling me to hang in there, it will get better. Two of them are now closing. People come up to me on the street telling me how much they liked my store, only one-third of them actually shopped there. The rest of them just liked my windows.
Now I am a stay at home mom for Brendon and Katie. I do daycare for my three nefmanys (I have many nephews, so they are nef-manys)and two other kids (siblings).
I have only now started doing all my artsy-fartsy stuff again. I am cleaning out the craft room and getting rid of things I will never use. I will then have more room for the fabric collection. woo-hoo!!
I love fabric and patterns trims and buttons and lacy frilly things. I am a die hard shabby chic, cottage, flea market, thrifting, rummaging, salvaging-aholic. I love to repurpose and reuse in creative ways. I am a great cook, an ok baker and a superb coffee talker. When I get on a roll, I can't stop.
Whew, a mouthful! I am so glad to be back!!

Posted - Jun 17 2008 : 06:14:59 AM Good to see you Aimee! I think it's a great thing that you are getting family and friends together like that in memory of your step-father. It's like that in my family too, the grandparents have all passed and they were the glue that kept everyone together. Welcome back!

Posted - May 25 2008 : 8:41:26 PM We had out memorial day party today. My step-dad pasted away 5 years ago. Last year I started his tradition of an annual get together of all the buddies, friends and family. He was the glue for a large group of people. They have all since scattered to the wind. I have been trying to bring some of them back together.
Some of my new friends came this year. They had never been to my house. They wanted to see my craft room. They were in awe of all the supplies and crafty stuff I had. he he. I see these things as undiscovered projects. Beautiful treasures, to be created with my hands. I think they only saw the clutter. Toomato, Tomaatoe.
I guess if the whole world was creative, we would go into sensory overload.
