Hello all,

I just joined the other day and am glad to be here. I found Mary Jane's magazine about a year ago and fell in love with her country flair and sense. I've always been a nature-girl, but now I am discovering I have an inner 'farmgirl' too! I bought her book and loved it, and a sewing friend helped me to sew my own apron from MJB's provided pattern, and I love to wear it. We usually grow summer veggies, and I love to grow herbs, and this last year we have expanded to chickens. I love the fresh eggs, and I have learned that 'the girls' are entertaining as well as useful. My husband and I homeschool our two boys, and have hopes to move to acreage someday, to expand the gardening and livestock-raising. I am pleased to have found a newly-forming 'farmgirl' chapter in my area, and am looking forward to meeting other 'farmgirls' and learning farmgirl skills together.

Thanks all for having me here.

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes, you all are sooo nice here. :)

Hi Farmama, nice to meet you. Your sewing creations are fantastic, so cute! Lucky you learned early...I still remember flunking threading the bobbin in eighth grade home ec class. Still learning too! We have actually not wrapped up our school year, as I am experimenting with year-round school this time. I'd like to be including lots of swimming in the river, puttering in the garden and watching the chickens and backyard birds in that summer curriculum! ;) And bread baking, as I'm learning to do that and really enjoying it, and my youngest looooves bread! I don't have a blog, not really, but I have been known to do a bit of blogging on my myspace page (eeech, should I be cringing at myself?? LOL It's been a fun thing to play around with time and again though, and a fun way to keep in touch with friends...myspace.com/eala_ban...if anyone here has a page, ping me and we'll be friends there too. ;) )

Camille, nice to meet you too. I've been up your way, I think that is where my hubby and I spent an anniversary one year, at a b&b there. There is a nature=reserve sort of island in the river there, right? We drove around it while there. Maybe we'll meet sometime. :)

Welcome Erin from Kentucky. I homeschool as well. We are finished for the year and are now outside gardening, fishing, riding horses and all the fun farmgirl stuff. When will your school year end for the summer?

Do you have a blog? If you get a chance, visit mine. I am new to the forums and just beginning my blog.

Have a great day.

Wow, thanks all for the welcomes, I'm overwhelmed! It is so good to be here and to be meeting you all. And to meet fellow WA farmgirls! Thanks for the invite to Prosser...am not likely to make it, but sounds like fun. I hear y'all have a great Scottish Highland Games going out that way too. Will have to make a drive out there sometime to take in the fun and make some new friends. :)

How fun to see all of us Wash. farmgirls in one spot.... while I have you here I will remind you that we are having a farmgirl round up (a membership day for Prosserfarmgirls) at our farmers market May 24th here in Prosser starting at 10:00 am and going until 12:00 - also during that, we will have a gospel blue grass concert.... 10-6 pm. So you could bring your lunch and plan on the day..... I would love to have as many exsisting farmgirls how can come and share in the day and the excitment. So come on down.
